Not really a kill, more like assisted suicide.

Coming to work this morning, I travel from the west side of Portland on 26, over the Markham bridge and then eastward on 84 (The Banfield). As I come onto 84 in the left lane of the two merging lanes, there is an 03 F-150 in front of me and a delivery van in the right lane. As we merge, another lane merges from our right, now making the interstate 3 lanes. The F-150 is barely keeping pace with the delivery van, but I'm cool, laying back, waiting for him to either pass the van or move over. I hate tailgaters so I try not to ride him, even though he's going about 60, well under the unwritten Banfield recommended 70.
Well after a half mile or so, it becomes obvious that this guy is playing games. He won't pass the van, he won't drop back and move over, he wants to control me or anyone else behind him. I inch up on him, as if to remind him that he's in the left lane and he's impeding traffic. Nothing. So I do the 'ol drop back and change lanes to the middle, then the right, and pass the van, continue on, and as we approach the next bunch of cars, I move back to middle lane, check my left and the F150 has sped up now, staying right off my bumper. We're both going about 75 at this point I didn't know we were racing. I gave it a 3/4 push and I'm off, and just watch this clown fade away as I hit 90 in what seemed like a couple seconds. The guy just disappears so I move back to my rightful place in the left lane .
People who play that power trip in the passing lane always amuse me. You don't ride the guy or anything, giving them a chance to pass at their speed, but all they do is sit there, oblivious or arrogant to the rest of the driving public. Then when you elect to go around them instead of flashing or tailgating, they play the speed-up game.
Like I said, not really a kill, I'll need a ruling from the judges.

Been there- done that. Couldn't agree more Coach Boone.. some folks feel they must play cop and do everything in their power to ensure others, such as you in this case, don't drive faster than they think you should; or it's a case of them driving along with their heads up their a$$es oblivious to the fact that they are being discourteous and holding up others. The proof of this is confirmed when they do play the speed up game and then ride your butt. Either case, this "judge" awards you the "kill."

Sometimes I fantasize about having a laser guided rocket launcher mounted to my vehicle for people just like that......

Waaah...you could have killed yourself or somebody! You should sell your Titan and turn in your license! And gouge your eyes out too, while you are at it.

...this was of course, sarcastic...but based on some of the similar jackass replies to posts like yours...I'm just poking fun! NICE KILL!

I hate that...

People that try to decide how fast or slow, I should drive. Then, when you pass them (eventually), they give you a dirty look or some sort of hand gesture.

I don't even pay attention to them, cuz' I'm too busy medium pimpin' in my titan...

My worst experiences with this type of behavior have been on I-10 between Houston and Lafayette, as I'm sure that Mr. Rarjar can attest to - idiots.......

And BTW, the 90+mph thingy DOES seem to get their attention

LOL
I did feel a little guilty over my self indulging behavior. So bad that when I got to work I said 3 Hail Mary's, 4 Our Fathers and 1 Act of Contrition.
O My God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.
I'm just a good ol Catholic boy.

Oh, and I put some old AC/DC on.

They recently passed a law in Colorado requiring you to stay the hell out of the passing lane unless you are passing.

Ya, feeling ya bro. I had an eventfull I-95 interstate trip yesterday also. Glad the Titan has alot of juice in that V8.
Invovled a garbage truck, a truck full of brick chips/chunks, and a female car driver doing her make-up.
The on ramp I took is two lanes wide 3/4 of the way, then narrows to one lane. It's about 2 or 3 hundred yards long from start to interstate merge. And you almost pull a "U"y to get on it from the direction I came. You get the green light, make a sharp left hand turn, keep curving around till your almost going the opposite direction you were when sitting at the light.
I had been stuck behind a garbage truck spewing rotten juices and pieces of garbage for about 5 miles prior to hitting the on ramp. 3 garbage bags barely hanging on the back lip of the truck. He was the vehicle in front of me and when he turned to get on the on ramp, he was really lumbering and sloshing putrid stench. When I saw he had choosen the left lane of the on ramp I decided to go to the right lane. Being that he has huge side mirrors I could see him looking at me coming up on the right hand side. He would not have to leave his left lane to merge on to the interstate, but he would to keep me from going around him. He waited till I was about 1/2 way past him them moved over into my lane. I had to go off the road and was on the shoulder when I passed him. No fish tailing, no control problems, only had to avoid one plastic reflector post. I could not have slammed on the brakes to keep him from hitting me, I had to floor it and move to the shoulder of the ramp.
After I got around him he moved back into the left hand lane of the on ramp. By the time he hit the interstate I was almost 2 exits away.

The landscaping truck, kinda a flat bed, had a large pile of brick chips/chunks on the back which was not covered by any tarp or netting or anything. And he was doing 70 on I-95. His load of rock was coming off the truck little by little with every wind gust or bump in the road. I heard a few small chunks hitting cars around me, but nothing big hit me. I had to floor it to get around this left hand lane driving disaster in the making.

The female car driver was tailgating a semi with her driver side sunvisor down (the kind with the built in lights and mirror) and was playing with her hair and doing make-up. She was right on the semi's tail in the left lane. Occasionally she would partially enter the right lane. I had to floor it to pass her also.

Glad the Titan will get up and go when needed.

I've always said that people driving slower than me are idiots and people driving faster than me are maniacs.

I've always wanted to give people like that the ol' nascar tap on the rear quarter panel and watch them spin as I pass.

Cajunguy, you got that right. I have driven Interstates all over the US and I believe I-10 wins the prize with the highest per capita of idiot drivers (excluding you and I of course!).

In Texas, we have signs which say, Slower traffic stay to the right. Do they? No. I guess we only need to obey the speed limit signs, nothing else matters. Kind of like watching folks park at Wal-Mart handicap spots. Most are not handicapped and most could use the excersize, if you know what I mean.
