May I introduce myself

Hello all. Name's Edward. I've been lurking this board for a while and have decided to take the plunge. I currently drive a 1993 Silverado with 270,000 miles. I have had good service with this vehicle but need a change.
I am going to purchase the LE in the fall but am waiting till the 2006 model caome out to see if they have fixed the brake, bedliner, stereo problems all of you have reported in the past. This is a very friendly and informative board. You guys are great. Only other board with as few Flames is the Honda S2000 board. (S2KI). By the way the S2000 is a GREAT car. If any of you here are ever considering a sports convertible take a look at them. Not to say the 350Z isn't nice. Looking forward to my Fall purchase and chatting with you all. Feel free to PM me or e-mail with any suggestions of things to look for. Thanks

Good luck with your purchase in the Fall.

This forum also helped in my decision to buy the Titan. Since my purchase, it has been an even bigger help with all the mods (be careful the mods are addictive).

Welcome!

I just bought mine and I'm loving it! I sold a 93 Maxima with 170K and still got $2,200 for it! I waited to buy an '05 instead of the '04 simply because I knew there was going to be all the extras added to the base LE for a marginal price increase. I figure that any car you buy, you're most likely going to have some minor issues at first, but the key to the vehicle is long-term quality. I believe the Titans will hold up well over time. I believe I have the radio issue with mine, but the dealer will swap it out in a matter of an hour once it arrives. I also have 1 minor squeak, but I can't hear it when I listen to the radio. That too will be fixed when I take the vehicle in soon.

I kept my Maxima for as long as I could. Since I knew I was getting rid of it, I didn't really repair anything on it for 1 year. By the time I unloaded it, it needed some work! Glad I got the truck before I was stuck paying for the repairs on my old car!

Hi Edward! Given the service you got from the Chevy, what made you decide on the Titan? I ask because one of the original trucks on my "buy list" was a four door Silverado. GM priced themselves right out of my market -the Silverado I looked at was $41,000 MSRP. They offer all kinds of rebates and everything, but it just annoyed me to see a price set so artificially high, then being offered rebates and deals to get it down to a reasoanable level.

I even considered a Colorado crew cab. I balked after the test drive and a short failed negotiation. I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of an inline 5. Might have settled for it if they'd just carried over the Trailblazer I-6. I'm really glad I walked because I love the Titan, but I also have a fondness for the full sized GM's even though they're the oldest design full sized trucks out there.
My faithful old S-10 goes on the block now that the Titan is here. It's an 86 and has never left me stranded, but with manual steering, windows and no A/C, there isn't a lot to break on it!

Tim

Welcome and it's going to be a long summer.
I tried to wait until the 05's came out. But by August I was literally vibrating every time I got within 10 miles of the Nissan dealer. These things are fun.

Go Vols. Naw go Bulldogs (lol) Mississippi State. I would like to save another 6 to 7 large before I buy. Might as well be the 06.
To answer your question TOK. I am sick of the Chevy interior. My wife has an '02 Tahoe and the interior hasn't changed much. Other than that I can't complain. Great service from that truck. I used Slick 50 in the oil and tranny. GM trucks have a notoriously weak transmission and I believe Slick 50 extended the life. Only problems were normal wear and tear, alternators, starters, water pump, etc. I believe that you can extend the life of any vehicle with proper maintenance. By the way does anybody have any experience with Slick 50 in their Titans? Do you need it with the graphite lined cylinder walls?? Any help or suggestions will be welcome

Welcome Ed - Have you driven a titan yet? After driving one, it might be hard to wait a year. When I was looking for a truck, I drove quite a few but we bought the titan the day after we first drove it.

No I am afraid to drive it now for fear that I might buy it!!! I have to wait. I'll have around $20,000 to put down if I wait till fall. It will be worth it.

I couldn't do it. I bought my Titan the day after I drove it as well. I hope everything goes to plan with your buy Ed. As far as the Slick 50 goes, I don't think you'd need it, in fact I would talk to a ASE cert mechanic before you put it in the rig. I personally am going to switch to Redline, just because of my past experiences with race cars. Good luck to you! and with the CAI's most would agree with me when I say nothing compares to Volant with the "snorkle"

Hey Squid are those Dobermans? I have a Dane. Sandog, you can't go wrong with Redline. Thanks for the Cai advice. Question for you Squid. You say you bought yours in August. I thought the '05s came out around August anyway. Am I wrong? I am thinking the '06 will be here by at least Sept.

Hey TCW. Did you get a good deal in Atlanta? Hard to get one in this small town atmosphere. I would take the drive my brother lives in Roswell.
