one last question for this thread. do the trip computer stats (miles to empty, miles per gallon, etc) show on the nav screen? how do you view this info as opposed to destination information?
Distance-To-Empty, MPG and the cool "instantaneous MPG" meter all show on the NAV screen - it's pretty interesting to see how much fuel economy you end up losing as your speed goes over 65 mph.
There are two buttons labeled TRIP and MAP.
TRIP takes you to the trip computer screens, and subsequent presses of TRIP cycle through the different screens like this: TRIP 1 -> TRIP 2 -> FUEL ECONOMY -> MAINTENANCE (and Tire Pressure) -> BLANK -> TRIP 1 -> etc.
MAP takes you back to the moving map display. If you have a turn coming up, pressing MAP again will show a close-up of the turn with the name of the street, freeway, exit sign, etc.
My truck's "born on" date was 2-Apr-2004, and it has the 6.2 software, maybe an '05 NAV owner can enlighten us.
That's really the only complaint about the NAV system - in parts of the Lake Norman area, parts of Salisbury, and a few other places I've been, aside from some of the new roads not being on the map (I can understand that), the system is not able to route on some of the residential roads, as if it has no street numbering information. WTH? The street numbering info is available from the census bureau for the cost of a download - granted a very LARGE download, but heck, I've done it.
Oh, well, maybe the newer versions will address some of the deficiencies.
If it's an option on any new vehicle I buy from now on, I'll get a NAV system - it's great to have.
sweet! my titan order got faxed in yesterday. my dealership is about 20 miles from the canton plant. can't wait for it to get here, with the 6.3 software as well!!!
Location: Northern California where the girls are warmer...

How do you tell what software version you have? Is it listed on the DVD?
I do like the nav, but given all the development in the area I live in, a lot of info. is missing. Seems like anything 2 years old or newer is not listed for my area. It would be nice if Statewide maps with more up to date and specific info was available.

I am not sure, but I dont think the MPG is instant. It takes an average. Check for youself...floor it when you have 5 miles on the tank and you will see it change a lot. Floor it when you have 300 miles on the tank and it probably wont move.

For the numeric MPG calc, you are exactly right - it's a rolling average. The instantaneous MPG thing I'm talking about is a little graph on the right side of the screen that's labeled from 0 to 30. It's always reading out what your current mpg is "this instant". If you're cruising at 45 mph with a light foot on the gas, it will hover around 20 mpg, under full throttle acceleration, the bottom falls out and it stays around 5 mpg until you get off the loud pedal. When you roll to a stop, it falls all the way to zero.
