How does my mirror compass know there's "ice" out there?
I read through my manual but couldn't quite figure this out. I thought maybe there's some sort of temperature trigger, but there doesn't seem to be a pattern of when it flashed "ice". I have also noticed that it doesn't flash ice all the time.
I believe that when the temp sensor records a reading of 32 degrees or below, it triggers the "ice" message to let you know that the possibility for ice exists, not that there actually is some out there.
Ice can form within 6 degrees of freezing on overpasses typically and possibly rural roads and in low traffic areas. ICE should flash and remain up for approximately 1 minute from 38 degrees and below after you start your Titan. (I think that is correct. If not, it's DARN close.)
There's a gerbil in the engine compartment that presses a button that sends a signal that releases a marble that rolls down a chute that activates a switch that illuminates the "ICE" display on your mirror. Yeah thats it...... didnt you read about the gerbil in the owners manual?!?!?!
Ok I need to lay off the drugs......... but what else would a pharmacist do ?!?!?

Poor gerbil, he must get cold sometimes.
Is he covered in the 36,000 mile warranty?

I was wondering what the "squeaking" sound was and why the neighbors cat liked hanging around my truck so much

I agree about the "ice" label...
My 05 stays on. Since it's not been above 38 here ( at least not when I'm in the truck ) in a while, I can't say it goes off. I had a friend in it last night, and he asked what that was for, and I said the same thing.
It's taken a little getting used to the temp and compass being in the overhead console instead of the mirror ( as the gm trucks do ), but I like it there.
