Stillen OEM brake kits - picts

Here are the picts of the Stillen Oem rotor- pads- line replacement kit and rear SS line pict.

Brake feel is 100% better (read 50% less pedal travel) only 100 miles so far, but excellent feedback and control.

Very good upgrade, as I said earlier did it to My Maxima and its very impressive.

Gives a cool sounding low pitched buzz on braking (squid says thats a cross drilled given- so far based on 2 installs Id have to agree)

Using OEM calipers with Stillen metal matrix pads (dont really see any issue with them my truck always stopped hard just the warp issue)

Whole thing pads rotors front & back w/ the ss line kit was just under 800.00+ shipping+ plus install- (dealer should cut you some slack on the install they know what your putting up with.

Did a round trip from LA to san Francisco put about 750 miles on them and they are almost broken in.

Driving around Frisco going to the game devlopers conference I was all over that seriously hilly town.

I made it to Frisco and back averaging about 4.5 hours each way (80-85) did a couple of high speed stops from 90-100 and can say that stopping power is right up there with bridge abutments, and I never felt any fade even on the wicked Lombard street, or on the freeway when truck pulls in front of you going 51 passing another truck going 50 hauling you down from 80-85 on the 5 Freeway north and south. (Very different from the stock)

Im very happy with the mod and in about another 500 miles Im sure Ill be ecstatic as they are getting "grippier" every trip.

I remember another poster saying "he didnt feel he should pay to fix what should be correct", and I agree, but just didnt have the time or patience to deal with Nissan on it anymore- but- given my experience with this mod would have probably done it when the stock rotors were gone anyway.

Davegvg,

Just how often do you anticipate that you would normally have to replace the brake rotors ASSUMING there was no issue with warping, etc.

The reason I ask, is I've never had to replace a rotor on any vehicle as a result of normal use.

I've never owned a truck and I expect it to see harsher use, but still the rotor should be designed with that in mind.

I hear what your saying and on some vehicles Ive owned I didnt even turn the rotors , just replace pads and keep going as long as everything is straight (although I will hit the rotor with a light scuffing pad when doing pads) but my towing rigs have been a bit different in terms of brake life.

Based on experience with my 93 lightning, a 96 chevy 1500, and my work Suburban (2001 5.3 litre)-

(I preface this by saying the largest variable in brake life depends on what you do with your rig)

For me-
Factory fronts last in total about 60-80K with a turn and new pads at about 35-40 and then it depends as they are more prone to warping after turning. They may get replaced they may get turned again and go till 110-120 Its happened once with my 93 lightning. The surburban loves pads and rotors, the 1500 did ok.

Backs can last 100K before you turn, and I dont usually turn back rotors, but just replace them.

I tow fairly often and heavy, and when I do I do it through the southern cal/Arizona dessert up and down really big hills and sustaining fairly high speeds over long periods of time. The warrior loaded up with 2x banshees, a dirt bike /wood/propane/food/ beer, and 25 gallons of gas and 40 something of water is around 7-8K.

My boat is about 5500 loaded up with trailer and all, and I occasionally drag 27-30ft boats around that push teh 9500+ pound limit pretty hard with 4-5 200 lb guys and a bed full of gear.

The aftermarket brakes are fairly cheap iunsurance for me. I also keep things I like a long time (95 Maxima) and mod them sometimes heavily over the course of ownership so I'm a long term guy in terms of keeping and maintaining stuff.

As I said in another post - dragging 5K+ of stuff down from 70+ on 8 mile long 4% downhill decreasing radius turn is hard on brakes and nerves.

What are you riding? The pict looks like maybe an st100?
