Does the PRO4X have to have P-rated tires for the tire sensors to work correctly? I was browsing the Nissan Facebook page , and there is a guy upset that supposedly the only P-rated tire in that size is the OEM BFG's ,and he does not want that tire.
Any PRO4X owners here run a basic LT tire such as the Michelin LTX M/S with any tire sensor issues?
I run LT tires on my '07. It's not a problem. The only issue is that some owners have reported the TPMS warning light coming on at high PSI settings. I haven't seen that with mine but I don't think I've had mine over 60 PSI.
The TPMS system doesn't have the capability of knowing what tire is on the rim as long the PSI stays above the low PSI trigger point. Our trucks do not have over pressure warning capabilities from the factory like some of the other ( mostly high end passenger cars ) have. The TPMS system is mandated by the government to detect low pressure situations only. That guy complaining is a douche bag and has no clue about the TPMS system or his truck.
Actually, at least on my 2005, the TPMS uses pressure differential not low pressure. If one or more tires are not close to the pressure of the others it will trip it. I had just got new tires, had aired up the rears to 55psi and left fronts at 40 to tow my travel trailer. Got on the highway and up popped the light. So naturally I pull over. All looks fine, check pressures and fine. Got to the campground and dropped pressure and light went off. Our TPMS meets govt requirements and thats it. Definitely not fancy. LOL
