msp,

The brake "problem" does not (IMHO) affect safety. Having warped rotors is certainly annoying, but if you are willing to work through the problems until you get the new parts, I wouldn't worry about it.

The worst part of course is the vibrating steering wheel. Other than that, I love my truck!

Got the brake fix done. Rotors are much heavier. Tech said it was a heavier steel. They are not any bigger as far as I could tell. I can definately feel the difference in the pedal pressure. No mushiness or fade.
Actually I'm glad I waited because my original pads needed changing at 26k.

Took mine in today for check engine light and they are replacing complete set of rotors calipers pads...I never made any comments about having them done in the past or yesterday..service coordinator just did it. Also he replaced the diff cover with a new aluminum one, said it had rust?

Nothing like the feeling of not having to ask to have something good done. He'll get 5 stars on my survey.

Yeah truck is back...they actually only replaced the front rotors spun the back and pads on all four wheels. SES light was Air Fuel Snsr part# 2263-7S000. Diff cover is cool looking and functional. Crappy job on cleaning throttle body looks like they wiped the front but failed to remove and clean backside of plate edge.

at 19784, my truck got confirmed as needing the fix...

They ordered the kit and for the meantime....turned my rotors. I was told it would be 3-5 business days to get the new rotors, pads and caliper hardware in.

Additionally, they are replacing my step rails as they were discolored from detergent run off from washing the vehicle.

Reallly happy with my no-hassels service department at Deland Nissan in Deland FL. I drive an extra 30 minutes to do business with these guys as the one in Daytona Beach stinks.

Took my truck in for it's 15k service this am. So far I've had no judder fixes at all. I've just started experiencing slight judder at high speed. Since I'm nearly 18 months into my warranty, I thought I'd get the dialog started on TSB 04 066c (the final fix). I was expecting something less than a positive response.
The SM's response was "abosolutely, we have the kits, there's no list, no prior interim fixes are required".
We agreed on 9/12 based on my schedule, not theirs. Unfortunately, a full shop prevented them from doing it this morning.
Needless to say, I was delighted. I'll post again after the fix with my impressions of the results.
BTW this was at Somersworth Nissan in NH, where I bought the beast.

Would a Titan that was built in 06/05 and 07/05 already have the new brakes????

Smile

Not sure of those dates, but they were aware of the issue by then, so they may have been upgraded, I would ask your delaer to be sure.

Update on mine, just took mine into Courtsey Nissan in Richardson Texas last week, the second time for the brake judder problem, this time it happened at 16k miles, first time it occurred was at 8k, but the difference this time is it seemed to only occur when the brakes were hot. regardless, the delaer ship was able to put the new parts on and the issue was resolved.

I called the dealer last wednesday, at 12: o'clock, he said bring it right now and I will put the new parts on, drove 40 miles, drop off the truck, drove 40 miles back to work in my car, drove back to the dealer, picked up my truck, the service writer told me they had installed all new brake parts. Went to rotate my tires saturday and saw that I still had my old rotors and calipiters. Called service manager and he said to bring it in Monday and he would go back and make sure they replaced the brakes.
Picked up the Titan today, and sure enough, I have new rotors and calipiters on all 4 wheels. I didn't know that they would replace the rears, but they did.

Are you sure they replaced the calipers? Should've only been upgraded front rotors and fr/rr pads. Good for you if they did, I just haven't heard about calipers being replaced...except for a couple who had the fronts replaced due to piston faces being cracked.

My dealer, Tony Nissan, Hawaii, is telling me that after the first 12 months I'm sol on the brakes. I had the half a$$ fix done at 3k miles. When I was at the dealer today to pick up my 05 headrests I asked the service guy if he heard any news about the brake issue and if the warranty was 3 yrs from last fix. He said nope and checked the computer with my vin no. he said I have until october this year and I would need a total of three fixes to get the new parts. He also said that the rust on the rear end was not an issue. i asked if lemon law would apply to brakes and he said no way. Talk about customer service for someone who bought 4 new cars from them in the last 5 yrs. Maybe if I have nothing better to do one of those big sale weekends I can stand in front of the driveway with a sign saying, "Ask about the brakes on the Titans". I'm getting so pissed over this attitude that I just may do it soon. Will ask to talk to service manager first then will take pics of the big sign day..

lol

I think now that they just cleaned them up real good, may have bead blasted them, same with the rear rotors, cleaned them and turned them.
They did get all the rust off of them, so they look new, but there are not any calipiters listed on the invoice.

Are there any other dealers near you? Man I feel your frustration. Bankston Nissan of Irving(where I bought the truck) gave me the same BS so I went to another dealer who welcomed me with open arms and did the fix with no temp/bandaid fixes ever being done!
Don't give up, if one S.A. tells you this, then say goodbye and call the next day and talk to another one. Believe me at most of these places the right hand doesn't know what the left one is doing!
