Just found this forum a little while back and this thread is awesome news. I was gonna do new pads and turn the rotors sometime this next week because I am having brake shudder. I just bought the truck about 2 months ago, it is an 05 with 20,000 miles. Hopefully it was purchased after sept 5 2004. thanks again for this thread
I went to Nissan today. Dropped off the truck. Came home with new rotors and pads in the front. And turned rotors and new pads in the back. Anyone that has had this done; did they replace or turn the rear rotors?
need some input from you guys, im having brake problems again. i have a 2004 kk titan. in 2005 i had the brake service bulletin done at 13,000 miles, bulletin NTB04-066e. now with 33,000 miles on it, the brakes are shaking just like before. called dealer, they told me they would not be covered under warranty this time. i looked up the latest bulletin NTB06-061 on the web and it does state that this:
ACTIONS
Check the vehicle repair history to determine if bulletin NTB04-066e, 2004 – 2005 Titan
and Armada; Brake Judder has been previously performed on the vehicle.
If NTB04-066e, 2004 – 2005 Titan and Armada; Brake Judder has already been done:
• NTB04-066e no longer applies. Do not apply the bulletin a second time to any
vehicle, claim will be denied (will not pay). The bulletin only applies once per
vehicle.
• Do not use the Op Codes referenced in NTB04-066e. Those codes only apply
once per vehicle. If used, the claim will be rejected (will not pay).
• Refer to the Front Brake Section in the Service Manual (ESM) for proper diagnosis
and repair procedures. Use the appropriate warranty operations found in the
Warranty Flat Rate Manual.
so does this mean im out of luck getting the latest brake update done? wtf? why would the NTB06-066e (a newer bulletin, newer parts right?) be covered by the latest bulletin NTB06-061, but the NTB04-066e is not? thanks for any help in advance

That does sound like some crap. It appears to me that they are saying, "if we already fixed the brakes once, don't do it again because there is some other problem." But if the truck and brakes worked fine for 20,000 miles after they fixed it the first time, obviously their fix did work and the brakes just went to crap again. When did you buy the truck in 04? Was it after today's date? If so you are still under your 3 year, 36000. If not did you buy an extended warranty?
i bought the truck mid november in 04, so yea im still under the 36k, and i have an extended warranty, but im not sure how the brake warranty works. originally the warranty on brakes is 12mo 12k miles i think.
I see. When i took mine in earlier this week i forgot to take the printout of the bulletin with me. When I got there the guy said he did not find the bulletin in his computer. I told him that I would go home and get it. When I told him that, he said not to worry it would be covered under my extended warranty anyways. Wether it would or not, I am not sure. I went home, got the bulletin and took it back to them. I would take it to them and keep pushing until they get it fixed.
I am the owner of a used 2007 titan crewcab 4x4 sold in Pensylvania originally.I live in Canada and i'm told there a recall on the truck for the fuel tank... anyone heard of it?It is at the local dealer now, being fixed. It has 17Ks and the rotors+pads are brand new...Question Does a light duty snow-plow exist for thes truck...Let-me know.
I need to take my '05 Titan in for the fourth time in 2 1/2 years for my ridiculous brake shutter. I don't know what to do other than sell my truck at this point.
Uggh! I just got a call from my service rep. Have the Titan in for oil change and seatbelt recall and asked them to check the brakes too. I was told that I needed new pads and rotors and was no longer covered under warranty (truck is 4 mo. over the 36 months). What's BS is that before they performed the TSB they turned the rotors a minimum of three times. Should I be responsible for replacing rotors with only 35K on the truck? This doesn't sound right to me...I have to look at my paperwork but I swore I asked for new rotors with the TSB. New rotors should last much longer than 35K right? They want $651 for parts and labor...
This has me somewhat upset, so I called back expressing my "concern" and them having turned my rotors so many times and service advisor says that they did replace the rotors at 22K. So now , supposedly, the rotors only have 14K on them and they need replacing and cannot be turned! This sounds like BS still! His excuse was, "it's a big truck". Outside a trip to the dump I rarely haul anything! Arggg. Nissan is starting to be like Ford now! Excuses excuses!
That doesn't sound right at all. I would be very upset about that. Maybe you can take it to another dealer and get them to fix it. If it's a recall I didn't think mileage mattered.

It's not the mileage, because now that I have checked I only have 31K, so these "new" rotors only lasted for 10K, and cannot be turned! Unfortunately I don't put a lot of miles on so I got hit with the "it's past 12 months (since the last brake job) and 36 months (from purchase for extended warranty)so no warranty coverage!"
To add, the service tech says that I received the "old TSB", and there is a new TSB that uses "thicker" rotors. Is that true? I thought "the fix" I got for brake judder was it. Now I am just in a fix!

Had the brake TSB at 23K on my 2005 SE KC off road. New front rotors/pads, the rear rotors were turned not replaced and also new pads. Now at 28K and so far so good, and the best news is there is no longer any noticeable brake dust on the wheels. Originally the wheels would turn black in about two days.
Ok, forgive my stupidty - question: I have a 2006 Armada. Still under 36 months, BUT have 44k miles on it. Since it is a 2006 and not a 2004 or 2005, does that mean that this bulletin does not apply? The brake shudder is getting pretty bad. Any suggestions? Thanks!
