Racing threads

Since I'm new and all, I'm still felling this forum out. Are the racing threads typical of the mind set of the average user on this board? I'm not trying to target anyone specific, but it seems to me that by feeling you have to challenge or accept someone's challenge to race, you have ego issues. And if that's your thing then fine, but I grew out of that quite a while ago. If you're interested in racing and whooping someone off the line or turning a faster 1/4 mile, why buy a 4x4 truck to do it?

Hahahahahahah, this thread makes me laugh.

This is what we would call trolling, just asking for trouble.

I'm no racer but...if you have a truck that'll easily do it, some will....just because they can. The fact that you felt the need to post in the thread like you did, tells me that at some point, a Titan has made you look silly. I guess it's normal then to want to lash out. I would too I guess but...I grew out of that quite a while ago.

This isn't unique to Titans. Go to ANY car or truck forum, and you'll hear about people tuning for power and racing other cars. From the crappiest econobox to the fastest supercar, everyone passionate enough about their car to read a forum about it wants to tell people how it performs.

My Titan is my family truck, but the fact that it makes awesome power sure takes some of the drudgery out of driving a 20' long vehicle!

Yea, This is what a lot of us like to talk about, and a lot of us like to do. You're welcome to join in, or you're welcome to butt out.

Well, judging by most of the replies, I think I understand now. You've made it quite obvious.

Btw, I wasn't here to troll (that's not who I am nor what I do), I really WAS here to learn more about the Titan for my future truck purchase. And I thought my original question was legitimate (but if you got upset because the shoe fit... then oh well). You've got some really good technical stuff on the site, but I promise I won't bother y'all anymore. Have a good one...

Coming to you straight from the Nascar state of North Carolina, where cars such as the Ford Taurus, Chevy Monte Carlo and such are essentially modded up and raced around a friggin' oval track. Before they get the small block treatment, a Titan will embarrass every one of them. But why race such slow cars designed to drive the family around? Because to some, the spirit of competition is fun and more than a hobby. Check out the OFF TOPIC forum and you'll see how many on here are cyclists who are in nature a very competitive group.

Do us all a favor, go have a Pabst or two, and in the future if you dont like what somebody else does(so long as it doesnt affect you) then STFU.

Banjo playing in the background.

“but I promise I won't bother y'all anymore”,

Nomad don’t worry about it, contribute as you see fit & lend a hand when you can. It’s best just to overlook some topics you don’t relate to & move along. You’ll find that collectively this is a fine group and sometimes threads just spiral into some less constructive abyss especially when they start out loaded. Keep on posting, just tighten it up a bit.

OK Nomad, I'll bite. You have got to understand that we've had a number of true trolls on this site who just come and make some inflammatory comment, just to stir up trouble. I think that the problem is that what you said is the FIRST thing you've said on this site, so it sounded mighty fishy. Others on this site have said the same thing ("why race with a big truck?"), but most of those others have also cotributed a considerable amount to this site (information, entertainment, community building), which changes the perception of their comment considerably.

Everyone is welcome at TitanTalk. Just please understand that we are as a community always concerned about maintaining a certain standard of citizenship here, which generally doesn't include being openly critical of one another.

I apologize if we judged you before getting to know you. I hope you understand where we are coming from.

Nomad, your question may have been legitimate, but you could have left out the psychological analysis of ego and perceived immaturity. Not a very tactful way to start a discussion.

The racing threads make up a very small part of what's available here. I don't have much interest in it, but have found some of them entertaining, and sometimes some useful info has come about from the experimenting and various mods some of the members who are so inclined have done.

As for the other thing, I have heard that Squid is getting ready to start a charm school for those of us that need help in such areas.....
