Does anybody have a Softopper?

I need something to camp under. I was thinking about a bed tent.

But for a few hundred more this might be a better solution because I can use it more often, and on the road, and I would not have to worry about straps damaging the paint like I worry about a bed tent doing.

Do you know of anyone who has had one of these Softoppers xsive11?

Believe me, I know! I  over the CanBack. The price of the CanBack is $899. I can get myself to justify going from $200 for a tent up to $600 for a Softopper, but I can't justify going from $200 for a tent up to $900 for a CanBack, and then if I got the CanBack I would want the side windows, so plus another $210.

I'm hoping with a bit of ingenuity, Velcro and fiberglass screen I can fabricate some bug proof ventilation for when it is not raining.

I have always had a cab-high fiberglass cap on my trucks, and this time I just don't want to go that route, but I still need something I can put on when I go camping at the racetracks 2 to 4 times per year.

Hey TriK, nice use of the search feature... For some reason "canvas" did not come to mind.

Well I'm going to give it a shot, well the Softopper anyways. The CanBack is really a lot more money, and as this will only be on my truck for camping weekends I think/hope it will work out. I also like how it can be folded down so I can make the 10 hour drive to Indy with it all folded up tight in the bed.
