Smile How does the Titan compare to the Avalanche 2500HD with the 8.1L Vortec?

Has anyone here compared the performance of a Titan to an Avalanche 2500HD with the 8.1L vortec big block yet? I know the Titan is more powerful than the Avalanche 1500 series with the standard 5.3 liter, but how does it compare to the 2500 series with the 8.1L?

After searching the Avalanche forums, it seems they can have pretty respectable performance with some minor bolt-ons. However, I think the Avalanche 2500 weighs alot more than even the heaviest Titan.

If we assume the Titan puts out more like 320-330hp instead of the factory underrated 305hp rating, then it seems to be only the TQ which is alot higher in the big block Avalanche. Nearly 80ft.lbs of difference between the two engines!

5.6L Endurance...305hp/379TQ
8.1L Vortec...........340hp/455TQ

I can't see what differnce it makes anyway, neither one are race trucks, just everyday drivers. Not trying to piss anyone off, last time I check there wasn't a Titan on the NHRA circuit?

As a moderator I am getting close to the point of simply deleting any post that asks this type of question. The Titan is a truck. It is not a race vehicle. It might be used to tow a race vehicle, but in of itself, it is not one.

Racing is illegal on the street and we do not want to appear to condone it by having people post things like, "I raced xxxx and won" or even the topic in this thread.

Who cares if the Titan is faster than xxxx? You bought the Titan, you didn't buy the xxxx. If you wanted to buy something faster, you wouldn't have bought the Titan in the first place.

If you absolutly have to race someone, go to the track, pay the fee, run your race, do your best, and then come post your times (a copy of the run result tag would probably be a good idea to post as well) and live with the results.

If you need to race someone to prove you have a faster truck, you might want to look at yourself and see if maybe you are not trying to compensate for some other shortcoming.

Stop with all the illegal, dangerous and stupid behavior and enjoy your $30,000 - $40,000 vehicle. We want to see you continue to post here and not be posting your obituaries.

The titan will beat an avalanche by a good bit. The avalanche isent really fast but has great pulling power when loaded.

This is you opinion. One of the deciding factors for me picking the Titan over the F-150 was the power and speed. I came frome driving imports, and trying to get them perform better, to the Titan. And I love the fact that when I pull up to an other truck at a light, that I can blow them away! I agree that the repetative questions can get annoying, but I think no question is a stupid one. I think a good fix for this problem would be to create a kills section or something like that. That way if you don't want to hear that kind of question, don't visit that section. I hope I haven't made anyone mad, just my opinion.

I have to agree. My Titan is a powerful truck, a fun truck, a comfortable truck, a beautiful truck....... but it aint a race truck.

I have a $3000 Gold Wing in my garage that will run rings around my Titan any time I want to go fast. HP to weight ratio is way better, simple math.

That's not to say I don't enjoy the power my Titan has. It's pure pleasure to be able to pick where I want to be on the road and go there RIGHT NOW.

Street racing irks me. I have done my share, but I grew up since then. Now I have a wife and children who drive on those same streets, and after so many years in the auto industry I have also seen WAY too many wrecked 'ricky racer' garbage towed in with blood all over it.

I've made a few runs at Atco and Maple Grove over the years.... anybody can do it and you don't put other peoples families at risk.

WOW, you guys really jumped on SickWhip it sounds like a legitimate question to me. Just because you guys don't care about how fast your trucks are doesn’t mean others don't.

I did not even know Chevy had a HD Avalanche, bet it’s expensive.

You are right, it is my opinion but as a moderator, my opinion holds a lot more weight that yours. No offense, but as moderators we get to decide what is and is not allowed to be posted here. That is simply the result of the position we are in. We also have to read every posting so we cannot ignore a section simply because we don't want to hear what is said.

We do not want a kills section as that can lead to the idea that we condone such action when we in fact highly discourage it.

As for the power and speed of the Titan over the F150, that was also one of my reasons for choosing the Titan as well, but I am not going out and racing every truck I see just to prove my manhood. I have better things to do than waste gas or take the chance of killing someone (myself included) by being stupid. Racing belongs at a race track, not on the street - end of story, end of thread.

Roy,
i have always thought of you as a fair moderator ....

BUT

I think you are WAY wrong in this case. Your opinion means no more than any one elses ... the difference is you can take action. It has nothing to do with who is more important. As far as referring racing to manhood, racing is simply a competiton ... just like football, just like baseball ... who is better. And I'd hate for you to look at a woman racing (go to a track, you will see more piloting than ever before) and tell them they are trying to compensate for "short comings of their manhood". You would get beat down (and deservedly so).

Personally, I think your comments to this point in this thread, are trying to compensate for the short comings you are referring to ... to are sticking your chest out, flairing out the tail feathers and saying "I am moderator, hear me roar".

Problem is, you can have your post vacated. If membership suffers, revenues suffer because you act based on too much personal beliefs, you are gone. I have no idea what your relationship with our ultimate leader.

Again, your comments in this post to this point are unfounded and wrong. As a matter of fact, moderators are supposed to be NEUTRAL and make level headed decisions based in the best interest of the community ... NOT THEMSELVES.

Ban me or whatever you feel is just ... but if you start deleting threads about street racing, maybe you should ask for justification each time someone talks about an off road excusion. make them provide a reciept for the off road park or a copy of a deed to the land they were on ... after all, you wouldn't want to condone tresspassing would you ?

It is not what you get tired of ... it is what the OWNER gets tired of that matters ... enough complaints about a mod, and the mod would be gone.

I have always felt you were fair before ... you need to have a beer a realize it is not YOUR site ... it is OUR site (actually owned by ekool) to make what WE want ... not what YOU want (unless YOU are ekool).

I cant see any rules being broken here seeing as the word "street racing " was never mentioned except by the moderator. Yea I'm being technical, but thats what rules are all about.

I have to agree with mikegronholz your comments were improper behavior and against forum rules of personal attacks.
