I could be wrong but I seem to remember Quad T posting in another thread that the dealer said thay just couldn't order the truck in the current window but MIGHT be able to in the next window. It sounds to me like his dealer just doesn't want to go to any trouble to find the vehicle he wants. Maybe it's time to call up one of the dealers some of the previous posters have listed.

I agree, sounds like there are plenty of people offering help so QuadT does not have to deal with the Fargan Arsehole of a dealer.

QuadT, do yourself a favor and drop the guy like a bad habbit and move on to someone else that is willing to go that extra mile.

As someone who works for Nissan, what is being said above is not completely accurate. What Nissan does is give dealers an opportunity to order their vehicles over the NNAnet.com portal. The dealer can request what they want; however, not all vehicles can be equipped with certain equipment. For example, during the fall it was impossible to order an Altima SE V6 with the Leather Sport Package and a manual transmission (though I spec'd it out on NissanUSA.com). The dealer can request whatever it likes, but sometimes Nissan will not allow the request to go through and will send a message through the portal that an alternative should be found.

The customer, on the other hand, can always build and spec out their preferred vehicle on NissanUSA.com but that doesn't mean that Nissan will allow the vehicle to be ordered.

In this case, however, the dealer sounds like it wants to sell what is in stock. I went onto the portal and looked at what was around, what was at the port of entry, and what was going to be built over the next few months. The vehicle in question is showing on multiple dealer lots. If Quad would like a listing of what is available, just ask.

Awhile ago, NewNissanDOTcom responded to a similar question by another poster. His response to me about why my truck couldn't be built as soon as I liked was that the assembly line is set-up to run specific combinations of trucks and options during a particular time frame. Yes, you can order a truck the way you want it but the window they will be building that particular combination might not be for weeks or months.
In this day and age where everyone is seeking any way possible to keep the cost of manufacutre as low as possible, this is one way they achieve it.

I remember reading something about the Japanese philosophy on building vehicles involved something called "just in time" parts delivery. Perhaps someone could explain it better, but they like not to have excess parts inventory on hand.

Doesn't mean the exact truck he want's isn't sitting on a lot somewhere, just that his dealer is too lazy to look for it.
The building issue could very well be possible I guess. I have never heard of that before, but anything is possible. Now I could be wrong, but before everyone totally bashes the dealer, I think I remember reading that QuadT did not want a truck from another dealer that would have a couple hundred miles on it by the time he took delivery. Also, I think he was hoping for one with the new brakes from the factory. I think he specificaly wanted to order a brand new one. I will let him confirm this, but if that's the case the dealer may not be the bad guy for once. It might just be bad timing.

Okay, here is what I know now.

DEALER #1 and DEALER #2 have matched each other's price. I have been very quiet and #1 does not know about #2 and I have made no commitment to eithor because I can't take the chance of getting only one point of view right now.

#1 is the place that is telling me the factory will not take a build order for Red Alert and Graphite/Titanium in any configuration. I also have family ties to this place.

#2 is a very new place to me, I have never had any experience with them even though I have been driving Nissan trucks for the past 15+ years. What follows is the email reply I just got from #2: I spoke with my Nissan rep and he said he hadn't heard of anything about not being able to order a truck in red alert. He also said I my allocation should be opening the end of next week but he wasn't sure the exact date. I'll get in touch as soon as I know.

I'll tell ya right now, if I find out #1 is yanking my chain this situation is going to end in a really ugly way, regardless of and because of family ties...

I spoke to a Jeremy at consumer affairs, he took all my info and gave me a case number. He said I should hear back from Nissan within 24 hours. If not I will call him Friday.

Now I think I will look over some of the great suggestions here and get back on the phone.

I've got to have a Titan, period!

I will hold out for my Red Alert with Graphite/Titanium as long as I can.
If it just can't get built I will be mad as hell but will order a Red Brawn be summers end. And for all you Red Brawn owners out there, believe me it is a nice color, but I have been driving a Maroon Nissan XE-V6 KC 4x4 for the past 10 years and I need something different.

As far as my trip, I'm assuming that will be all screwed up. I suspect I will be that poor little guy camping out of the back of his Mom's Outback; a rather bizarre statement coming from a 45 year old man...

I hear ya believe me.
The dealer told me he searched and came up with a few choices for me in PA, one had no Utility Bed option - no thanks I really want that, and the second had no big tow but did have the off road and was built in 2004, also not what I want. He has offered up no other suggestions and seems to be happy with me waiting around for a month. Here is part of his last few communications from earlier this week...

I WISH I HAD NEWS…..THE ORDER PROCESS WILL START THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL….GROUND STOCK OF LE’S THAT MATCH COLOR ARE PRODUCTION DATED NOVEMBER OF 04 WHICH IS A PROBLEM FOR THE BRAKE ISSUE……WE DO HAVE A LARGE SELECTION OF CHEVY TRUCKS IF YOU ARE LOOKING OUTSIDE OF NISSAN…….TOYOTA SUPPLY IS MUCH LIKE NISSAN…….ANY FLEXIBILITY ON YOUR END? COLOR…INTERIOR?
THANKS …

APRIL IS WHEN I CAN TRY TO PLACE THE ORDER AGAIN……WHAT I DO NOT KNOW IS IF THE INTERIOR WILL BE AVAILABLE! IT WOULD STILL BE LATE MAY AT BEST WE WOULD SEE THE TRUCK

And yes, I ripped him a new but over the Chevy and Toyota comment.

well you have to wait if your going to be THAT specific. You could get the brawn right now with those same features & same interior if you wanted to.... I don't see what the big fuss over Red Alert is anyways, everyone has sceen a regular red truck before. I'm not knocking the color I jsut don't understand what the big deal is about having that specific combo.

Part of it is the fact that always having bought used cars/trucks that were the best mechanically, therefore taking whatever color it was, this is a chance to get exactly what I want as I'm buying new.

Trust me, hauling the yellow S2000 with a bright red truck will look way better than hauling it with a maroon truck.

There was actually a nine minute window for the truck to arrive, dock, be unloaded and moved out of the way. Most suppliers would build plants within 2 hrs of the assembly plant (Marysville, OH in this case).
This dealer is full of $hit, or there is a misunderstanding.
What a great reply, thanks for the insight. I now on the phone again with another dealer.

Sounds like you are connected to Honda is some way.
I LOVE my S2000!!!
