Truck Trend's pick for best extended cab truck

Anyone read the latest Truck Trend "Best of class" issue? They picked the Chevy Silverado as best in class of all the trucks to choose from.

Look at the stats...The Titan is cheaper, tows more, has more torque, more hp, more payload capacity, and I belive mileage is better (although many will argue this point, present company included).

I'm a rational person, but I'm wondering how they came to this conclusion...

It's simple..........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ pays for a good rating. I tend to follow the independent reviews from Consumer Reports and some of the major mags like Car and Driver when they test all the trucks side by side. By the way if you read the reviews from the major independent testing you will find Chevy at or near the bottom of the heap!

The Titans biggest drawback, and it's what kept it from winning "truck of the year", is the fact that it comes in two versions rather than the multiple bed lengths and configurations the others can be had with. Not to mention no optional engine choices. I'm sure Nissan will remedy this soon but that's what most testers complained about.
The GM pickups are cheaper, offer better rebates, can be had in many different sizes and shapes and they offer optional engines. Which is actually better has nothing to do with anything. It's convience of getting the truck you can afford aand the setup you need.

I test drove a GMC HD before purchasing the titan, reason being that I get a supplier discount which is over 1000 under invoice + 0% financing. I must say it was nice, I almost bought it since the deal was sweet. The one I drove had a 6.0 liter V8 You sure the Titan can tow more cause I'm not sure about that!

Of course I still like the titan better or I would have got one! I don't get a supplier discount or 0% apr with the titan, but I still feel I got a much better truck. My Friend does not agree, But I am VERY satisfied with my decision. Soon as I get the New Brakes I will be a happy camper. There was some stuff inside the GMC that really did not impress me much, Like the wires that were connected to the rear windows for the defoggers, they looked like I could just snap them off on accident. Over all it was a nice truck, although I do hear GMC is a bit better than Chevy.

don't know how GMC could be better than Chevy, they are one and the same, only differences are cosmetic. Same engines, transmissions, interiors, suspensions everything.

Chevy Gas/Electric Hybrid

Has anyone else seen the review in trailerboats magazine about the 5.3L Silverado with the electric motor (I think 333 ft/lb and 295 HP)? At the end they show overall MPG at 16.2 and 11 MPG towing a 6,600 pound boat. Heck, I get right around 16 daily driving my 4x4 Titan, and over 18 highway. Not much of an advantage for a $37,000 truck. Money talks if you are a big advertiser I guess.

thats comparing a 3/4 ton w/ a 1/2 ton. sure that 3/4 ton is going to be able to tow more. the thing i like about the chevys and im sure its the same w/ ford and dodge, is you can get a bare bones w/ their best engine and 4x4, with a hose out interior. those make the best work trucks. the thing i dont like about the chevys is their interior looks just like it did 8-10 yrs ago. even in a 50k+ suburban.

my work truck is a 04 chevy 2500hd and it is so "cheesy" on the interior and handles the offroad with plenty of squeeks and moans. I dont see how any1 can say the Chevy's are better, cause imo Ford trucks are nicer than Chevy and give the Titan a better run for the $$

The 6.0 is available in the 1/2 ton and with the tow package can tow 10,000lbs. Very Stout trucks. All in all it comes down to what you like and need in a truck. Everybody will have an opinion on their preferences/choice of truck and the more variety in brands we have to choose from the better.

Re: Truck Trend's pick for best extended cab truck

please show me a picture of a 1/2 actually hauling 10,000 and i will show you a speeding bomb that someone believed the hype about because chevy had to beat the titan's hauling capacity....i believe this happened to ferd when it started out at around 8500 then when the titan came out the same truck all of a sudden could haul around 10 G's!

this makes no sense as its called TRUCK of the year not TRUCK LINE of the year....it should be based on the actual truck in the competition not some baloney of configs. this would mean a manu could come out with 28 different models of the same truck and win every year....why not just have 38 different colors of the titan and call it the winner... what a joke most of these awards are.

I say if you can find a better 1/2 ton pickup then buy it I know the Titan wins hands down. Just my 2 cents
