and this article was in the Houston Chronicle:
The loudest shout of Texas pride comes from the fair's Nissan display with the 2005 Texas Titan - a special edition model for the second year of Nissan's first full-size pickup. Boldly wrapped in the colors of the state flag, the show vehicle packs loads of Texas-style punch.
While the flag-colored exterior isn't offered, the show vehicle flaunts the Texas edition extras offered for 2005.
The Texas Titan gives Texans what they want in a truck, and at the same time gives them a great value on something special, said John Spoon, regional vice president of Nissan North America's South Central Region.
The Texas Titan, which is set to go on sale in early 2005, will be available in King Cab and Crew Cab body styles, and in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. Spoon said pricing hasn't been announced, but will be competitive. A special offer, he said, will be available for Texas residents.
Exterior enhancements separating the Texas Titan from its siblings include: 18-inch chrome wheels with six wide spokes; chrome step rails with rubber grip surfaces; round foglamps integrated into the bumper fascia; factory spray-on bedliner; and large "TEXAS TITAN" badging, complete with a Lone Star, attached to the tailgate.
Inside, the dashboard is dressed with a graphite-colored center console that Spoon said projects the pickup's tough image. The Texas theme is punctuated with floor mats embossed with a Lone Star/"TITAN" logo.
"We're anticipating at least a 30 percent (Texas Titan) mix in total volume sale," Spoon said. "We're projecting anywhere from 6,000-7,500 Texas Titans in the first full year."
Nissan also announced enhancements generally affecting the 2005 Titan lineup. Most noticeable is the bold "V8 TITAN" block lettering added to the lower front doors. SE models are distinguished with a special wheel finish.
Cargo boxes are a focus with spray-in bedliner, a stand-alone option on XE models, and a tailgate assist standard on all Titans.
Inside the cab, active head restraints are standard for driver and front-seat passenger. LE models gain the elegance of brushed-aluminum trim and offer the option of a leather-appointed front bench seat.
The success of the Titan in the Texas market is critical, Spoon said. "Consumers in the south central part of the United States buy more than 26 percent of all Nissan Titans sold in America, and the majority of those are sold in Texas."
