Hey guys, I am trying to understand prices on 2004 Titans that are still sitting on the lot. I was hoping for some advice. The Nissan dealer near me has a 2004 Truck that is almost exactly what I want in features. So I was thinking that since it is a 2004 that it should be even more discounted than usual.
However, the salesman says that is not true. I find that illogical and would appreciate your opinion. Now I know there is a 3000 rebate on 2004's which is twice the 2005's rebate.
I figured that if I calculated the 1 year residual according to their lease it would be around 9% depreciation on the vehicle and I could subtract that from the vehicles cost to account for the car being almost 2 years old.
So a fair offer would be 24279. And I didn't even mess with the holdback which is about $900.00. I think this is a reasonable offer considering that 2006 model Titans will be showing up on lots in around four months and this one will be over 2 years old.
Not to mention the obvious that this particular Titan seems to be sucking wind. Clearly people either don’t like the option assortment or hate the color. I don’t know but I can find no other reason that a 2004 is still around. I would appreciate any advice or what you guys think of my reasoning.
What is it worth to you is what I always ask myself before buying something. If you think the price is too high, then it probably is. I would think that anything under 25 would be a fair price, but I never looked at the '04 models. If you are going to spend that much, see what you can get on an '05.

I appreciate the opinion and have def considered getting a cheaper 2005 with less options.
Go to the lot after hours and get the stock # and the Vin # is possible. Write this down, along with your offer, and a couple of phone #'s where they can reach you on the back of your business card. Walk in, find a salesman, hand him/her the card, tell him/her that this is what you wanna give for the truck, have a nice day, and walk out. They will most likely call you.
I paid 26k for an 05 that was exactly what I wanted.
I turned down a leftover 04 at 19k because it wasn't exactly what I wanted.
It all boils down to what you want and if you think the price is right.
STUPID sales manager tried to tell me it was just FINE to pay too much if we were planning on keeping the vehicle. "Who cares about a few thousand dollars if you are going to keep it for more than 6 years?"
It was all I could do to refrain from slapping his last active brain cell out his right ear before we walked out of his show room. Girl from that dealer called a few weeks later to ask about our 'experience' at their business. I told her their sales manager is an insulting moron and I spent my money at Eisenhaur Nissan the day after walking out of their shop (Exton Nissan).
Find what you will LOVE, buy it at a price you think is right. Enjoy life!!
Consider that as soon as you buy it and drive it off the lot, it will be a USED 2004 Titan. Low mileage, but still an aging used vehicle. Look at Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds and see what it will be worth as a used low mileage truck. That is what you will have shortly after you buy it. Consider that used value when you buy it. Obviously they would not sell it to you for that price, but that is what you will be left with after starting to drive it.

Because Titans are really starting to move, Nissan doesn't seem to be offering to much of an incentive to take an 04 over an 05. Stupid if you ask me. If the price is close, go for an 05. The 04 is already worth less when you drive it off the lot anyhow.

I would take a look at the 05's and see what you can find. You might be able to score a 05 for around the same price as the 04 (depending on the options you want)
