Question XE Alarm

I have an '05 XE CC, w/o the XE optional 'preferred package.' Its my understanding that this package is required to have keyless entry w/ alarm included. However, I had the dealership program the keyfob for keyless entry and received them at time of purchase. The salesman said that this did not include the alarm, only the keyless entry.

After reading another thread here, I checked the Titan for alarm using the key to enter the passenger door. The horn sounded and was turned off by depressing the unlock button on the keyfob.

The panic button mode also sounds the horn, as expected.

My question is, is this 'technically' an alarm? Is there a way to determine if the alarm will sound w/o busting out a window or damaging the truck? Any guess if this counts as an 'alarm' for insurance purporses?

I want to add a kill switch regardless, but am debating about adding an aftermarket alarm, particularly if the standard one already works.

I have the XE, I left the window down and locked the doors one day last summer. When I started to ge in, I didn't unlock the door, I just reached in and opened it from inside, the alarm went off. Agin one day I was on top o the high school, putting up some wireless equip. I had parked in the student parking lot, I heard a horn blowing like my alarm, I walked over to the edge to see and there were two students checking out my truck, when they saw me one yelled that they were just checking out my truck when the alarm went off. I told that was funny because I didn't even know that I had an alarm. Since the I have jumped on the bumper trying to set the alarm off and it want go off.

The alarm only goes off if you open a door or the hood while armed. The keyless entry and alarm use the same "brain" so, if you have one, you have the other.

Dukes of Hazzard

So unless a thief crawls through the window, the alarm will sound. Thanks for the info, Hudson!
