Unhappy Where are the Titans designed and built?

I checked the label on the door jamb, it was not obvious as to where it was built.

Have heard tell that the truck was designed in Detroit and built in Tennessee?

BTW the rear bumper will not protect the truck at impacts of 5 mph without causing a couple of grand in damage.

A case in point Ford escort less than $400 (tail light and bezel)
Titan (bumper slides back into truck box, crimps the purty little piece on the back side of external glove box.
The plastic piece that covers the bumper is scratched (expected)
Bumper is bent, plastic pieces in center and sides are popping out!

Damage estimated at 2K for a collision at less than 10 mph if not less than 5 mph (car backed across one side of parking isle into truck). [ Escort vs Titan = Titan looses big]. Good technology, but the design needs to be retro engineered. Have seen a couple of other corner incidents with pretty heavy damage on this site as well, not just this one.

In a severe off center collision it would be a real mess.

It is built in Mississippi. I don't know where it was designed. As long as the truck keeps me safe, I dont' care how much monetary damage it sustains in any crash. Just my opinion.

What vehicle doesn't sustain a lot of damage in a "severe off-center" collision?

keep in mind you're comparing apples and oranges. i'd pay the higher collision expense just to drive a titan!!! a ford escort you can find dime a dozen which translates into $400 tail light and bezel assemblies...

I was hit from behind by a Ford SUV, I'm not sure which model, but it had V8 emblems on it. Knocked me into a chevy pickup. $ 3,200 in damage to mine, totaled the Ford and knocked the bumper off the Chevy pickup.

Well cars and trucks nowadays are designed to have more damage...its called crumpling...the idea is the car to absorb the damage vice having your body absorb it.... and just for the record..I backed into a chevy impala ss with my titan and caved in his whole drivers side door and all it did was scratch my bumper and bend it a bit...never even bent it enough to hit the bed. So every crash is different. Besides...if you got insurance youre only paying the deductible anyways..

I got rear ended by a station wagon going at a pretty good clip when I was driving an old 1970s landcruiser years ago. Broke one bolt and scratched the paint on the rear step on the cruiser, just about totalled the station wagon that hit me.
