Thumbs down ran er' stone dry!!!

i posted this on another thread but i thought some of you may be wondering "if i'm getting 15-16 mpg, how far can i go on a tank...." well, i found out!

ps, the tank holds 28 gallons.....

yes my friends, i had the lame privilege of running her stone dry on the freeway! i ran her to 415 (all city driving). at 28 gal. that is just under 15 mpg which is good for city.

yes it was a lesson in male humillity to be under the overpass on sat. afternoon waiting for the AAA guy to bring me some gas....WITH my 5 yr old son in the back NOT a good example of maleness i might say. the light had been on for about 45 miles but when i stopped at the last gas station before 'conking' i had no cash and their credit card system was down!!! (how rude!)

so i was one exit short of making the next gas station--like the cops--never around when you need one--or else there was plenty and i was an idiot....one of the two!!

Well, at least you know how far you can go now. I'd go about 414 3/4 miles next time.

Besides the inconvenience of being stranded, I'll bet that hurt the wallet to put in 28 gallons!!! I thought I'd ease the pain the other day when mine showed 3/4 tank and fill up, but it still cost $20! The gauges obviously read a little wacky. Out here in sw Kansas, running out of gas could mean a long walk.. no AAA to call when you're 50 miles between towns!

also, to add insult to injury, the fill up for the low octane junk gas that is partially water with bird feathers in it still ran me $68! and to top it off with some peroxide in the cut, the fraud preventer on the pump only let me pump $50 then i had to do another transaction for $18!

days like that i'm at least glad Jesus understands....but even He was probably laughing!!!

by the way, you don't remember anything when you are 5 yrs old do you?

I remeber getting lost in a Kmart store at 5 yrs old (I was completely freaked out). Although, this may be a bit less traumatic...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

happened to me twice, very embarrassing and i made the titan look like sh!t on two occassions, with many fords, dodge and chevys driving by the inanimate beast stuck on the side of the road. thank god there was a landscape dude about a 1/4 of a mile away, he had gas for his equipment. pheww!!! by the way, the gas gauge indicated there was gas on both occasions, so the gossip about sh!tty sensors is true....

I don't remember the guage on my Titan - but man when the light comes on in my Ram I've got to head for the pump quick cause according to the computer I've usually got like 15 miles left of fuel
