17" XE lug nuts OK on 18" LE wheels?

I just picked up a set of 18" 05 six spoke LE type wheels/tires to go on my 04 XE. Are the XE lug nuts (designed for the steel 17" base-model rims, the nuts have a flange and rubber ring) OK to use with these wheels? Yes, I have tried to find an answer to this via a search...TIA Al

I did the same thing, took off 17" XE rims for 18", the lugs worked fine.

Glad to hear that. I couldn't tell if the angle of the nut looked right compared to the LE wheel recess, seemed like there would be very little contact area between the two, based on just eyeballing it. Any idea if the XE type nut has caused any gouging or scoring of the recess on the wheel? Thanks

Guess I'll be installing the LE wheels using the XE nuts. Sounds like the pitch of the seating surfaces should be OK. Anybody knows otherwise, please let me know.

I don't think I would.

I went from XE steels,to 17 offroad. The nuts looked very different-and fit different.I would hunt up some type specific lugnuts.Frankly the offroad lugnuts don't really seem to be "holding on to" as much metal, but I'm guessing that Nissan knows what they are doing.Charlie

I have a set of SE wheels for my XE, but haven't put them on yet. How different are the XE lugs from the taper on the aluminum wheels?
Do you think just a set of aftermarket tapered lug nuts would be fine? I'm not where I can look at the SE wheels right now to see if they're tapered like conventional aluminum wheels. I really don't want to go through Nissan and get pounded for lug nuts.
