She called it the Life Saving Truck

Check this out. An appropriate name for the Titan.

That is amazing. I'll feel a lot safer tonight while I'm out jousting with the drunks later tonight. That rod in the door sure did it's job.

I have to agree. It make me feel a lot safer about the rigidity of the truck. Judging by the picture I would have never believed tha the guy was able to get out and help the other driver. Great Job Nissan!

Makes me wonder how he would have fared without the side airbags though. Damn, I don't have them. I'd be willing to bet the majority of us don't have them.

I have come to learn that those curtain airbags and side impact airbags are the ultimate lifesaver. My wife's Murano has them but my truck does not. I was looking at an ad for the new Toyota Camry that showed not only all of the available traditional airbags, but also available shin bags that come out from under the dash. Its amazing how they are keeping people alive in crashes at these speeds.

I'd love to have it just to know that it's there in case I ever need it....but the way Nissan packages it is just strange. I can't hardly find a Titan listed in a dealer's inventory around here that has the side airbags.

And kudos to Nissan for safety....

WOW....that is wicked. Good reason why kids shouldn't be able to drive under 18. Funny how people have to learn the ultimate lesson about a small car arguing with a large truck - saw an F350 CC t-bone a civic. the girl in the civic probably never knew what hit her.

To me, it looks like the Accord came out better than the Titan did! Of course the high centered truck tumbled a few time too. It may have saved the driver but...I'm not all too impressed by how it just fell apart.

As long as the cab stays together and protects my family and me, I don't care what the rest of the truck looks like. The only precious/priceless things in a vehicle are the people riding in them. I'd be proud to walk away from a crumpled up mess like that with only minor injuries. Nissan apparently spent a good amount of time making sure that we have the very best chance of surviving almost anything thrown at these trucks. Great job Nissan!!!

I posted this on another thread but the side curtain and roll over airbags are the primary reason I bought the Titan over the Ford. I'm driving the Titan because my pregnant wife totaled my 04 Dakota in late December. She got sideswiped on the freeway and crashed head on into the center median at about 40-50. Totalled the truck but her and the baby are fine.

The drivers air bag saved her from serious injury, but the key point is she struck the wall at almost a perfect 90 degree angle. She just went straight in. My fireman neighbor observed how the week prior he had helped peel a lady out of her car in a similiar accident. However, in her case, she struck the wall at an oblique angle, slid off the airbag and caved in her forehead on the window pillion. He said it looked like she had a lobotomy.

Right then and there I decided my next vehicle would have side curtain airbags. Found what I wanted in the Titan and got roll over airbags on top of that. Wound up getting more options than I wanted in order to get it, but am very happy I did.

Just my .02

Regards,

John
