I just assumed with a light vehicle and v6... Certainly not worth really thinking about. I'm a big Honda fan but I've been really impressed with Nissans overall job. I was consistantly getting 15.6-15.9 mpg with my Titan and I had both the big tow and off road packages on an Crew LE. I'm gonna be really pissed if my new truck doesn't get at least the same.
I wonder if I could sue someone if my new Titan doesn't get the same mpg ?
I do kind of like the Ridgeline's erogonomics and of course Honda reliablity. My wif says I'm just fooling myself test driving a Ridgeline. She pointd out how" damn important" it seemed that I recover the Titan's tiedown cleats (kind of useless on anything else).
I'm also big Honda fan even though I have 3 times as many Toyota's(6) as Honda's(2).All 8 "foreign" vehicles were-are-winners.
This Titan is my 1st Nissan-no complaints.I probably shouldn't have cheaped out-XE KC 2WD with just side-side curtain airbag pk,but I wanted to come in at a certain number.
You can get the side-side curtain airbag pk in all trim levels-but it is bundled with a lot of annoying CS is the SE and LE.The XE requires just the pp(tint, sliding rear window). The side AIRBAGS tear out from the side of the seats and protect your chest-torso;the side curtains blast out and down from the lateral edge of ther headliner and protect your head. They are a single pk(side and side curtain).
The Ridgeliner is not light-about 4900 lbs-more than my 4780lb XE KC.I was really disappointed with my city mpg on the Pilot(4450lbs AWD-essentially the same drivetrain as the Ridgeline, just lighter). The Pilot is rated 1mpg better than the Ridgeline-17 22 vs 16 21,so it won't improve your city mpg.My Pilot isn't a dog-accel wise-but the Titan would leave it for dead.Charlie
You are truely blessed! I am glad you and your family are ok. Things definitly would not have been the same if you guys were in the M5. Thanks to God and the Mighty Titan!!
Cal is it possible for you to get a picture from the passenger side of the truck, showing the dash area in relationship to the cab itself ? I want to see if the dash moved during the accident, this is out of curosity.
Btw I'm very glad you and your family had someone from above watching over you that day.
In a word- Wow! The picture of your seat is amazing. Sorry you all had this to go through. Wishes for full and speedy recoveries all around, of course. Condolences for the other motorist's family too.
I have a difficult time understanding why this would be ill-received by any Titan group.
Possibly a bit too morbid for their tastes? But.. Thats life. Roses and thorns.
Best regards -PHIL

sorry to here about your terrible tragedy. one question though do you know if the other driver was drunk?? agian so sorry to here about this terrible thing that happened to you I will pray for you and yours
Wow,120mph closing speed and virtually no interior intrusion(judging by the airbag pic). The police officer said he was surprised you did not have two broken legs.Well, its obvious that Nissan did their homework regarding engine displacement(for want of a better word)/energy absorption during a head on collision. I am sure gald to see that you are doing okay now. Good luck to you and your family.

Hi,I'm Troy McClure. You may remember me from such films like: "P is for Psycho", and "The President's Neck is Missing".....
When you look at crash data the info as with everthing else is pretty contradictory. The NHTSA has the Dodge ram rated best in the pickup class which is a head scratcher. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the Titan the best in class along with the Ford. What they do have in common is that the siverado is dead last. The IISH test includes a 40mph frontal collision with the state of the art hybrid III dummy. The NHTSA test from what i understand has not changed since 1978 and is a 35mph frontal collision. I guess which ever test you choose to believe is your choice but I'd put my confidence in the IIHS. The NHTSA test does give the titan 5 stars for driver and 4 stars for passenger. The two door tacoma got 5 stars for both in the NHTSA test, which vehicle would you rather be in? Just can't figure out how the dodge does well in one test and doesn't do so hot in the other and how the titan seems to perform better in a 40mph collision vs. a 35mph collision?
The rural roads east of Denver seem to be dangerous, ( as someone else stated there are a few fatal crashes every year).
When I bought my Titan a salesman I was talking with, just went through a Nissan training on the Titan. He pointed out the hood has hooks on it toward the back (near the cab) so that when the hood is closed the hooks lock into the frame/body. He explained without this feature, during a head on crash, the hood could come free an be sent into the cab of the truck. Obviously it would be detrimental to the driver/passenger if this happened. The salesmen also said the Titan already complies with the (2007?) safety requirements.

My engine moved to the left (passenger wheel well) It didn't appear to drop at all. Funny because I just finished explaining to the wif that collision management involved both impact crumple zones e.g. hood fenders and the fact that the engine would go UNDER the vehicle instead of into our laps.
I'm real interested in understanding our safety features (imagine that!) The Nissan broshures do not really explain anything. Seems like we have three. Front airbags, Side airbags or curtains and something that comes from the roof. Wonder if anyone can do better job of explaining what is doing what.
Cal,the front airbags blast out of the steering wheel, and the pass side dash, and prevent your face and chest from being cruched against the dash and steering wheel. The side airbags tear out from the lateral side of the front seats. The bags are positioned so that they protect your torso from being crushed by whatever intrudes from the side-when you are hit from the side..The side curtains blast down from the headliner trim plastic that starts around the A-Pillar(the one that blocks your view to the front). They drop down-about 4 connected tubes in one curtain-and protect your head and neck from being bashed against the window etc when you are hit from the side,or when you roll over and flop around.Your hit was from the front,so if you had the side-side curtains, they wouldn't have activated. The side and side curtains come together on the Titans. Some vehicles have just sides(current Pilot),or just Side Curtains(cheapest trim level of Armada has just curtains-I think).Obviously, both are better.Charlie

This is a much better description than both Nissan and Honda . Maybe you should consider sending them a copy and charge royalties!
