Question Need advice/comments about leveling kit for the Titan

I apologize if this topic has already been covered in depth. Regardless, I am seriously considering having a leveling kit installed for the front. Now, I have heard that as long as no probs arise due to the kit, the factory warranty will remain valid. However, I had a few questions for those who have done this. First, were there any negative "side effects" such as handling/ride quality or suspension noises (ie. squeaks)? Second, will this cause any premature wear on any suspension components and if so, which ones will more than likely be effected? Lastly, are you glad u did this "mod" or are there any regrets?

Anyway, I would appreciate any useful input as I am thinking about having this done next week. Thanks.

you will find at least a hundred posts about this topic.

There is a kit by Prerunner Greg that is machined from aluminum that is said to be easy to install and has no adverse effects on the suspenion.

There is also a kit by Daystar (also marketed by Rancho and a few others) that makes the shocks bottom out and will destroy the front shocks in about a week.

If you need more info, do a search.

If you don't tow and don't like the raked look, go with a leveling kit. The rake is there for a reason and if you tow, lol...you'll find out what I mean. The kit does nothing to void any warrantys so don't worry about that. Most of the guys on here who've done it, love it...I think they used Gregs PRG kit.

Which levelling kit are you installing? Do you have the off road package?

I put on the Prerunners Greg (PRG) kit. There are a lot of posts about the "other" leveling kit and most are bad.

1. No negative side effects that I have seen yet.

2. I can't see how it could cause any premature wear unless you started to use your truck differently after installing it.

3. No regrets. I tow but not much over 3,000 lbs with less than 300 lbs on the tongue. No noticeable rear squat from that weight.

Greg is on this site often. You could send him a PM (PreRunnerGreg). He's great about answering questions.

PRG kit for the Titan is definately the way to go! Kit is easy to install. You'll need an alignment when you're done.

BTW the nice thing about my Ram Hemi is that you can crank up the front end up to 3-4" with a 19mm socket by adjusting the torsion bars & installing longer shocks.

I figured I could crack on that one but I'll let it slide as I'm sure someone will do it. You need to put the picture back up in your sig.

BTW I got assigned a new rig for work. It's a 97 Dodge 1500 with 97,000 miles. Boy is it a POS (No fault of Dodge, people just treated it like Sh!t) I think it has the 318 in it but it runs like it has a briggs and straton 5 hp. Done everything I could to make it better, OLD SCHOOL TUNE UP, plugs, wires, Air filt, fuel filt., shocks, tires, front end align, tranny flush, PW steering flush....EVERYTHING. It is still a POS. You wanna trade for your new blue one????

I just installed my prg kit thursday. I absolutely love it. It's changed the way the truck looks and I can feel a difference from the drivers seat (both in angle and height). I thought some of the other posters where imagining things when they talked about how they no longer felt like they were sliding off the seat, but they were serious!

Suspension travel is unaffected. Ride is the same. Driveline angles are slightly increased, but, hello, what else do you expect when you bring the truck up?

I opted for a slightly smaller kit (1 3/4") and I'm not sure the 2" would have fit. My top a-arm on the passenger side is about a 1/16 inch shy of hitting the shock bucket in full droop. On the drivers side I had no such issues.

Order and install the PRG kit. You won't regret it. I have yet to read a poster who had any remorse at all.

I noticed the "not sliding off of the seat" right away...the truck also doesn't "push" going through turns as it did before installing. I kind of like the minimal weight transfer to the back axle (kind of on it's heels instead of that rake). It looks good and handles good, what more could you want? Great job Greg!

Mine was installed on a 2wd w/o ORP so it might set a little higher in the front than others.

So the leveling helps the front seat slide, that is very helpful, that is the only thing my wife hates about riding in the truck. Thanks
