Valve Extension Hose?

Folks,
I'm looking for an extension hose to connect the Schrader valve on the spare tire, while it is hoisted up under the bed, to another location so I can remotely check and fill the spare tire as needed.

Does anyone know who makes such a hose and where I might purchase one?

TIA

I have never heard of one, but what a good idea. I will bet one could be easily made though. Perhaps after I get my kids car up and running again I'll make an attempt to adapt an old pump fitting to do this.

You could try any AIT branch, they are Schrader distributors, and have accumulator accessories, as well as hose, fittings. I'd use Parker 801-4 or -6, it's push-lock hose and you could adapt it to the stem fitting and run the hose anywhere you want.

Extension Hose Installed.

Folks, I ended up getting a hose manfactured at a local hydraulic hose vender.

I mounted the Schrader Valve on the support bracket that holds the socket for the trailer electrical harness. Easy place to get to and yet out of the way also.

The first photo shows the valve mounted near the trailer harness socket.
The second and third photos show the gray hose wire-tied to the hitch. I used a five foot hose and this is longer than needed, but the extra hose is coiled on top of the spare and acts as a strain-relief on the spare tire Schrader valve.

Now that the hose is installed I am much more likely to keep the spare properly filled at the correct pressure.

That's cool rdfeatherstone! Thanks for sharing this with us and going through the trouble of taking some digital pics.

I wonder if it could be rigged to send air in the opposite direction using a short hose to air up a flat tire on one of the other wheels after you have put Fix a Flat in it.

Won't that stuff make the tire way out of balance????? and have to be removed??
Why not just change and use the spare?????

Bayou Titan,
Sorry, if you keep the spare at regular pressure and then attempt to fill-up a flat tire, you just end up with two tires that are at half pressure at best.

I did read one thread on the Webb where some guy would fill his NEW spare to 120 PSI and use it as an air tank. VERY VERY VERY unwise in my opinion. It might work, but if it exploded, the damage could be FATAL. I can just see it now, running down the highway and the damn tire explodes and punctures my gas tank or shears a brake line. No thanks, nor for me.

I just bought a new set of tires for my our 2001 Pathfinder, the tire dealer is now filling all their tires with 98% Nitrogen, which has been used by NASCAR, NASA, and commercial airlines for awhile now. I guess the Nitrogen doesn't expand as much when the tires get hot, and tends not tho migrate as much as compressed air. The manager, who I've known for awhile bought a Titan after seeing mine last year, He had the tire sensor problem when traveling at high speed for exteded distances - after filling his tires with Nitrogen he hasn't had the problem. My Titan would do the same thing - after an hour or so at 80mph the tire sensor light would always come on.

it probably has more to the with the fact that there isn't any moisture in the nitrogen tank he is using.

Wow, what a great idea! I can't count how many times I've went to change a tire on a car only to find the spare flat.
