Wanted to post my current mileage, and see where other people are. currently at 205,000 miles on my 05, all original truck with no problems (except for the recall fixes). Even has the original rear diff. As of today, the radiator has a very slow drip of antifreeze, but its the only problem this truck has ever had.
Nope, its still the original one....the only things that were replaced (under warrenty) was the brakes, and I believe the fan in the front (it was many years ago).
I swear I should of blown out my rear differential a long time ago, especially since ive gotten it stuck on my stock suspension and tires back on new years, and spent the night spinning the rears....
117k on my 2nd 2004 4WD Crew Cab SE. First one drove 75k until the lease was up before I went and bought this one. No major problems on either that weren't fixed under recall, though I did just barely get my current Titan in on the cracked exhaust manifold recall a few thousand miles before the warranty would have been up. Brake done on both, ECM recall on both.
Can't say the Titan is the most economical truck I've ever owned, but it's been a good truck. None of the major "cost me a ton of money" stuff has given me any trouble whatsoever.
I have 120k miles on my '05 and she still works like brand new. I have had most of the Titan issues: rear end blew up, front dif and transfer case rebuilt, exhaust manifolds cracked twice, on my 3rd transmission mount, evap valve replaced, etc. Still the original radiator though. Even with my past issues, i still love my truck! I enjoy that I can beat the piss out of my truck in the woods without worry and it doesnt owe me a thing, while all my buddies pay $600 per month and cry over every scratch on their new trucks.
146,500 on my '07. I've had a few issues: rear diffy replaced at 30K, parking brakes delaminated, exhaust rusted through at muffler, purge valve stuck. Otherwise, it's been a good drive and I hope to keep it another couple years.
I have an 04 / 2WD SE with 234,000 miles on it. Bought this truck brand new and still love it! Only thing I hate is the one-wheel spin, wish I had gotten a locking differential.
2004 SE Crew 173295 as of this morning. About 55000 of it towing 4 tons of Airstream. Replaced the headers, all brake disks, parking brake pads, 3 batteries.
Been a great truck although it now has some clearcoat issues.
I just bought an 05, with 122,000 so it's great to see all of these high mileage Titans still going strong. The last 3 Nissans I had, 2 Sentras and a Nissan Frontier had absolutely zero engine problems and one of the Sentras had 189,000.
I just crossed 102,000 miles in my '06, bought in '09, and I've had zero engine issues. Never had the bad rear diff problem, though there was an issue right after I got her where the diff lock engaged on its own and wouldn't disengage and the dealership was going to charge me to rebuild the rear end. Luckily, I got the dealership to rebuild it under my extended warranty, which they weren't going to do (I think my exact words were "so lemme get this straight-it's a mechanical problem that isn't covered under my extended warranty?...So why the hell did your salesman sell me a warranty?!?!?"...I've had nothing but positive experiences with the dealer's service dept since then ) so I might've avoided the rear diff problems because of that. Just did the AC recharge thing and now it's blowing cool again which is awesome!
It is good to hear about high mileage Titans. Sounds like the engines and powertrain are rock solid.
What about those early 04's and 05's though specifically related to plastics and other moving parts?
For example how are the door handles? Seat belts? Shifter knob?
Tailgate? Speakers? Dash lights? etc. etc.
Do those kinds of things still work like they were new, or at least newish?
On my 05, there is only a few of those annoying little things...my center console leather like material is really starting to crack and spider out, but I blame that on the heat in Vegas (112 in the summer). I also know that my Rear Right window does not roll up if you use switch in the back (but does roll down using the switch in the back) , I have to roll it up using the drivers window buttons. My drivers side headlight seal broke, so water got in it and it always appeared kinda worn and fogged up looking....however, it never stopped working...lol.
Another than that, theres really no annoying things wrong with my truck. I know that the 04's have something weird with the A/C, in which it can make clunking noises (I can confirm it cause my friend has this issue), but that was fixed for the 05's and forward.
Its not a big deal but in 9 years I have never had a single bulb burn out. I just started replacing them with LED's for the look but I'm impressed with the OE longevity.
It's nice to see threads like this. My truck is far from perfect at 90,000 miles, but it's a damn good truck after having some of the usual fixes done.
I'm proud to say all the 90,000 mile '07 Rams, Chevys, and fords in New York are rusted out while my '07 Titan hasn't even the smallest trace of body rust.
I've only had a couple "gremlins" with the interior, my driver's side pillar grab handle broke off several months ago, which sucks cause I have a lifted Titan, but it wasn't because I'm fat! I prefer the term "girthy" Finding another one (without going through Nissan who wants 40-something bucks for one) has been a challenge so far, but I guess if there aren't many Titans in junk yards that's a good sign Also the cruise control stopped working a few years ago which I kinda said "oh well" to, the bulb burned out recently in the air vent selector dial, and my factory 6-disc cd changer gets a bit warbly sounding sometimes, but I mainly use my iPod anyways. Other than those little things, the Bro-Hammer (that's it's nickname ) has held up extremely well.
This post is a mini-novel...but in 5 years, my T has seen some things. Been to Texas and back twice, San Diego once, and salt lake city... i couldn't count how many times. For 5 months this year I ran over the divide to Denver twice a week. This coming fall, it will be taking the family on a round-country trip that will involve running I-70 west to east in it's entirety.
126k on my 09. bought in 09 with 18 miles on it. very few of those miles have been gentle. I put it to work in the oilfield right out of the box. I've mud bogged at 10,500 elevation in the dark, pulled 8,000 lb tanks through the high desert at 109 degrees, scraped the belly over boulder-piles to get to my fishing spots, and commuted 130 miles a day in ice and snow down to -38 degrees. The factory shocks and struts saw me to the high end of 80k miles, factory pads and rotors to 90k. She's due for a set of spark plugs, a new set of lungs, and an aftermarket exhaust...in other word.. my T is barely broken in.
It's had very few issues on its own. The bin on the driver's door panel has a broken clip, and the little sunglasses cubby on the overhead doesn't latch right. at 15k the blower for the heat/AC quit.. fixed under warranty in a day. recently I had my driver's side parking brake come apart, but that will all be fixed as soon as I locate an ABS ring to replace the one with shorn teeth.
I caused that failure by towing a trailer with scrap metal ( about 9300LBS all told) some 20 miles with the parking brake on. Also recently, the little braces for the front bumper in the wheel wells broke off.. still unsure if they serve a purpose or not as my bumper is no less stable than with them. also a small hole in the bed at the rear of the wheel-well from unsecured semi-parts and the plastic bushing on my tailgate hinge gave up the ghost a month ago.
The upholstery on the front seats is torn at the seams in the outermost butt-cheek vicinity. This happens on every vehicle that is used for work and is gotten in and out of a dozen times a day (often with tools in back pockets).
Dings and scratches, my first headlight bulb burned out yesterday. front fender and both doors on the passenger side were replaced in '12 due to a bobtail that apparently needed to be in my lane more than I did. All that done under the trucking company's insurance.
I even have a pair of tires on it that have lasted me 108k miles.
All in all, it's been the lowest maintenance and repair cost vehicle I ever owned. The 03 ram and 02 Durango i traded in on it cost me almost 5 times as much combined in only 3 years.
And I will own this truck until it literally falls apart....or I do.
