Titan "Zip" off the line

I just read a thread on ECU reset, and throttle position learning, and would like to ask a question/solicit informed opinions.

I test drove a 04 Titan 4x4 in November 04, ordered an 05 Titan in January 05, and have owed the 05 KC LE 4x4 since February and am very happy with it.

When I took the four or five mile test drive in the 04 with the salesman, I recall the wheels spinning EVERY time I took off from a stop light. I'm a middle aged guy, and I didn't intend to lay a patch (as we used to say in the 60's) every time we got going, but this just happened. Aparrently it was obvious to him that it was not intended, and the salesman didn't say anything.

Now, thinking back, I have about 2000 miles on my Titan, and I have never tried to lay a patch with it, and this has never happened. This is fine with me, as I'm not after unintended wheel spin- but it prompts the question:

First Titan, it happened every time. My Titan, has never happened. Same engine, transmission, gearing- Big Tow, etc.

The only different is that my Titan is LE versus dealer SE, I keep my Titan over half full of gas, that Titan was near empty.....so there was a difference in weight on the rear tires, but I still find it strange that my experience with my Titan versus the test drive was/is so different?

The previous owner of that 04 may have been a very aggresive driver or pulled loads often and the ecu possibly learned that or yours being so new, its definently still breaking in.
I know it took at least 10k for my 04 frontier to really shine but I open it up often and also tow often. My coworker has the same truck as mine with 10k on his, mine has 17k but its defienently quiker than his is. I attribute it more to our different driving styles rather than milege as he hardly ever sees 4000 rpms and I see that daily loaded or not.

I think when you first drove it in November, you weren't used to the power of the Titan. I think when you drove it in February you knew to go a little easier on the throttle.

Another issue may be tire pressure. I test drove 2 (KC &CC) models last year before ordering and they rode like crap-stiff-jittery AND could easily spin the wheels too. I supposed "that's the way it was" and would get used to it. When mine came in it rode a bit better but after getting it home I found the tire pressure @ 48PSI. I dropped it to 35 and the truck rides nice and the tires don't spin unless you really try.

Thanks guys......I know I've been running 35 psi, and I probably did get used to it (compared to my F-150 V-6) without even thinking about it. Beween that, and the higher gasoline level and weight, and my ARE LS II hard cover, it all adds weight and/or traction.

Altogether it makes sense!

Just about 7600 miles here. Still lays rubber at will. Not something I'd recommend....considering the price of these tires! lol.
