Tailgate hitting bed

I have noticed that my tailgate, when closed is hitting the bed. This is chipping off the paint and causing it to rust. the dealer claims it's because the tailgate floats and nothing can be done about it. Anyone else with this problem?

Welcome to TT lilmac2929.......I hate to say it but if you ust the SEARCH button/feature you will find out a lot. Several have come up with fixes for that and it is on some threads here. If you can't find it I will help SEARCH for you if you contact me. Do you mean it is hitting the side of the bed rail or what????? It should not be hitting..my 04 and 05 Titan never had that problem...once fixed the SM needs to fix the paint!! Good luck and let us know.
awwww I'll SEARCH:here is one from homer......might be the one you need.......
the ninety-nine cent tailgate fix
here is one from Paulphilly....
Tailgate uneven...gap is pretty big!
When I typed tailgate problem....in the SEARCH function.....I got aobut 5 pages and/or 119 posts and threads with information!
When you get it fixed you might want to celebrate and put one of these on the black bib on the tail gate.
chrome tailgate trim from sxviper.
and some black vinyl door edge molding on the vertical end/edges of the tail gate to protect the edge from chipping paint.
Rust and corrosion has a 5 year warranty......I think!!

my was doing this also and it was because the hinges that are on the tailgate where bent from factory. the dealership was suppose to replace with new ones they received but they lost them and took mine off and bent them straight even though the nissan rep told them not to bend them back that is why he sent them new ones.
