Amazing how many don't know the Titan has a V8

Man,
Seems like every time I fill my Titan up with gas, some dude (Chevy/Ford/Dodge owner) comes up and asks how I like my Titan.

The thing that's weird is that most of them act kind of surprised when I tell them that the Titan has a big V8 under the hood. They're always impressed when I tell 'em it's a 305 HP 5.6 liter. I wish it was rated more realistically (same for the HEMI), so I didn't have to endure "the Hemi has 40 more HP, though". Yeah, sure it does. I always respond to that comment with "show me a Hemi that can touch a Titan off the line".

I think most American truck buyers equate Japanese trucks with anemic V6 engines.

Ok, that's it.

As someone mentioned on this forum a long time ago, the level of education and knowledge of an average Titan owner is beyond those of the big 3 buyers. We know as much or more about their trucks than they do.
It is therefore understandable that those people's narrow view of the truck world inhibits their ability to comprehend the Titan. I wonder what they'd say when the new Tundra comes out.

They'll say it's "fugly."

They may say it's fugly, but it sounds like they'll be looking at its tail lights most of the time. If they put that monster hybrid motor in the new Tundra, that will be coool!
HS

PS - I'll stick with the regular gas motor, though!

Excellent answer. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I had a couple people ask me the same thing while drooling over it. I just point to the badge. "V8 TITAN"

Funny thread....I do get asked that a lot! I also get "Do they offer a V-8?", or this "It's a big truck, did you get the V-8?" Many are suprised, and I lay it on thick by informing them that the Titan has more torque then the Hemi...by which many reply "What's torque?"

i went to a party and there were several guys who in to trucks, i told them about my Titan and it's spec......man, they were "yeah, sure..." so i told them to go check it out, and they did, they took a look, rev. the engine and test drive........in the end, they were all speechless.

the titan is by far a truck that's more for your bucks.

Yep, I can't count the number of times people have asked if it has a V8. Are you kidding me? The largest 1/2 ton on the market and you assume it has a V6. You would have thought the Tundra would have broken the myth of Japanese trucks being compact and V6 powered, but I guess it'll take a few more years of the Titan. I for one hope Nissan never offers the Titan in a V6 flavor, and that they only improve the power or perhaps offer a diesel 3/4 ton version (SFA of course )

maybe this is the reason my '05 LE has the big chrome badge that says, "V8 Titan", I was wondering why they put the V8 first, but I guess that's the first thing they want people to see when you're passing them...
