What do you wash your truck with?

I know there is alot of threads that talk about waxing and washing but what do you guys use to actually wash the truck. I'm not talking about the soap but the actual cloth or whatever. I don't want any fine scrathces on my truck so i guess a microfiber cloth to wash it with would be the best bet..whats your opinions?

I use soap and water...

Nah, just kidding. I don't know, I'll have to ask all the Mexicans what they use the next time I'm at the car wash...

I use a furry sponge thing... but then I took my truck down a trail that was 2 feet too narrow the day after I bought it, so it's good'n'scratched up anyway.

I use my high pressure washer I just bought and turtle wax boat and car wash soap. Works great. I have always used cotton baby diapers when hand washing and waxing.

damn, that was a pretty ****ed up thing to say. I see your user name and I'd have to guess that you are of Mexican or maybe Puerto Rican descent but it still seems like a biggoted thing to say. Are they all Mexican nationals on a work visa working at your carwash? Is your carwash actually in Mexico?

yellow sponges that i buy at wally world. i use different ones for the wheels. one of the keys is to keep the surface well lubed w/ soapy water. the suds is what helps carry away the dirt.

I use Zaino Bros. car wash, and a copy of furry-cotton covered sponges, after every few washes I throw them in the washing machine with the four towels I use only for drying and buffing my truck - with Zaino of course.

I'm all about keeping my toys in great shape, swirl marks are for the most part not allowed!!!

Every spring I go to the fabric store and buy a yard of pure white polar fleece, non-pilling. I cut this up into rags and use it for washing the cars. The polar fleece will not absorb water very well so it can not be used as a drying rag, but it will not cause scratches. I use a rag only about 2 or 3 times, washing them in the washer with just other rags after each use. Once the white polar fleece gets a little tanish in color I throw it away. The cost for this kind of approach is very small.

Using a sponge or a mit or a rag over and over is going to be a problem if you are looking for a top quality finish. These items trap dirt and that dirt is a big part of what causes the scratches.

Another thing - DO NOT wash in a circular motion! Where do you think circular scratches come from? Always wash and dry in straight lines!!!

Mr. Clean Auto dray and a soft mitt. I don't especially like the way that it seems to strip wax but it does work exactly as advertised for me. You just have to wax a bit more often.

Thumbs up telescoping brush.........

I've been using a garden hose attachment that has the telescoping soft brush/handle and the water comes out of the brush. I use warm water and that's all. If I keep up with it the job is simple. If the Titan is real dirty I use a little laundry liquid soap also but I don't use much soap. I only use a rag where the brush can't get. Works for me!

I don't know this as first hand information, but I'm told that laundry soap will strip the clear coat. I could be waaayyyyyyy off, but its just something to think about or look into.

Thanks V..........I use organic/natural and biodegradable liquid ECOVER laundry soap.......I buy it and the ECOVER liquid dish soap in bulk from the local Coop........I just refill my containers there. ECOVER is mild and gentle and natural.....I don't use much at all......so I haven't seen any problems with it. It's also good for landing on the ground environment...3-5 day bio-degradable. I really am pleased with it for everything I use it for. The brush with the water constantly flowing out has really replaced using rags/mitts/and most soap etc. Of couse I have a 1,200 gallon water tank to pull from so it doesn't matter how much water I use.
