Well, bad news and then more bad news on my beloved Titan
1) My wife and I hitched up the travel trailer for the second time and drove through the Olympic Mountain range last weekend. The drive there was great! However, shortly after I left the campsite to go back home, I heard a load grumble like noise that was even louder then my sweet exhaust tone coming from my right front wheel well area. The noise sounds like a combination of grinding, thumping, rubbing and clunking and it has a load background noise similar to the noise of air thumping inside a truck cab when a front window is down on the highway and pressure is constantly thumping/changing in the cab.
It is really hard to describe the noise any better then that, but I did notice whenever the trucks front end is bobbing up and down, the noise gets a lot louder when there is a greater load on the front end. Also going up hill seems to increase the noise. Every so often when I go over a bump, with or without the trailer hitched up, I can hear a very load metal on metal thump and crack noise coming from the left front suspension. In addition, speeds above 35 mph I can feel a very noticeable vibration through the floor board and in the steering wheel. I have never 4x4 the truck and I only have 3700 miles on it.
2) When I was coming back from my trip I needed gas badly…well the small town I was in did not offer a Chevron, so I went to Conoco. Well, ever since I filled up the truck is not running right. Turns out Conoco shipped bad gas to the whole side of Western Washington and anyone who filled up with the gas just killed their fuel injectors! So when I take my truck in this weekend to get the suspension looked at my fuel injectors will either have to be cleaned very well or replaced.
SEATTLE – There was a major announcement Monday in the growing faulty-fuel controversy that has hit gas stations all around the area.
ConocoPhillips now says its bad gas may have made its way into every county in Western Washington: Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Pierce, Thurston, Mason, Grays Harbor, Kitsap, Jefferson, Island, Clallam, Lewis and Pacific.
ConocoPhillips says every 76 gas station in Western Washington is affected by the announcement and anyone who has bought gas there recently and has experienced problems such as stalling, hesitating or backfiring is entitled to a free fix.
Last Friday, ConocoPhillips announced a "heavy polymer" had made its way into all grades of gas shipped out from its Ferndale refinery, clogging cars' fuel injectors and causing them to quit running.
The company says they found out about the problem two weeks ago but some mechanics say it has been going on with countless cars for at least two months.
ConocoPhillips originally said the problem was contained to a few gas stations in Whatcom and Skagit counties, but complaints from Sequim to Centralia prompted the company to concede they can't be sure any of its gas in Western Washington is safe.

Wow! Sounds like you aren't having a very good day. I hope that they get your front end fixed quickly. Let us know what they find.
As for the Conoco thing... I guess the only good thing is that it has been admitted and you can get it fixed free. Otherwise you would be fighting your service department over why your truck isn't running right.
Are you going to have to have proof that you filled up at a Conoco station? Just wondering because a lot of people don't take their gas receipts. Good reason to.

Not too sure if I need the proof, but I do have the receipt (i have two, i started to fill up on 87 and then changed my mind after pumping a couple of gallons and went to 91 octane since I was towing) if they want to see it.

For these reasons, I stick to Mobil, Sunoco, Texaco etc. These small no-names are NOT always the same.

Conoco/Phillips has been announcing on the Radio/TV in Seattle area that they just want to fix the problems they caused and are not requiring gas receipts. The problem will be the same from vehicle to vehicle and a repair invoice will tell them what they need to know. Sounds like another rare company that wants to do the right thing. Definitely rare today.

What is tooo bad is that there are not enough refineries and everyone shares. This product that caused the Seattle Area problems came from a refinery that supplys lots of brands. There is no way a consumer knows what refinery his gasoline came from, they only know what brand name is on the pump.
I used to work for Unocal and they bought their gasoline from Shell where I worked, Sold Chevron the gasoline in California markets and elsewhere it was Phillips 66, Shell, Texaco, and others. All exchanged as it was cheaper than trucking from their own refinery.
The Seattle Area is served by a limited number of refineries. One used to be ARCO (not sure who owns it today), one was Mobil (Now Connoco Phillips?) one Texaco and the old Shell refinery next door are now Shell. Texaco/Chevron are buying out of Shell. and an independant that supplies lots of Mom-pop stations. Wow! Who really makes that gas we are buying.

Problem #1 sounds weird and would be curious what the dealer finds.
Titanholic - isn't this your 2nd Titan? I could be thinking of someone else.
Problem #2 just sucks - I agree with a previous reply too inthat I only stop at Mobil or Sunoco - not that they are infallable - but it seems they are never the ones with problems like yours
