Cutting into body/pinch weld under rocker panel?

Hey there,

What are folks opinions on cutting into the body panel seam under the rocker panel. It's a long pinch weld/tac welded strip under your doors.

I would only need to cut 2 notches, each about 2" long & maybe 1 or 3/4" inch deep.

I'd rust prevent the crap out of it...

My question i guess is, this seam doesn't affect structure/support/safety (as far as I can tell). Yes/no?

Thanks!

Great, thanks! Appreciate the feedback....I was concerned that it might EXPLODE!!!

On the P side, 2 arms of the sliders I just installed are setting rite on that seam. Causes a bit of "feedback"/road noise. I thought I had cleared that, put the same wood spacers on that side as the D side-but it was dark when I drilled & bolted up that side.

Dohhh!

Seems easiest just to cut into that seem to give the arms room to play. Probably only need 1/2 of space, we'll see.
