Cleaning the grill...

I really like the XE model with the grill the same color of the rest of the truck.
The fake chrome on the other models seem more like plastic.

How easy it is to clean the front grill of the Titan?
Here is Florida, the "Love Bug" season (those Floridians know what i mean) can corrode through cheap plastic. I heard the chrome like front can and will scratch easier and is tougher to clean.

Any feedback or truth in this?

I have found that the chrome is easier to clean than the colored corners of the bumper and dings and scratches less. But that is just my experience with the chrome. I have no idea if the colored bumper is the same material as the lower corners of the SE/LE model grills.

I'll agree with that. When it gets really bad, I just hit with some chrome polish and it looks like new.

I've got an XE black grill. I keep it waxed so bugs wipe off while I wash the truck, no extra work required.

My chrome grill seems to be real easy to clean as well. A simple damp rag pretty much does the trick. We also have those so called "LOVE BUGS" here in Louisiana and they do make a pretty good splatter.

I'm thinking about getting a see-through bra to solve all of these problems.

Do the love bugs still pit auto paint? It's been a few years since I lived in FL, but they used to damage the paint on my hood if not washed off right away. I thought the newer clearcoats would be less prone to damage?

Here's a kit that costs $360.80 and covers the entire front end. Regular price is $451, but with discount code "tc240", you get 20% off. I've used this product 3 times and have had very good success. Not trying to bash stickercity, just trying to help.

I hit the front end with a little Fantastic before washing. Works excellent. The bumper portion is real chrome. The plastic chromed grill is of excellent quality and doesn't scratch or pit. I wish I could say the same for the chromed tailgate pieces. They scratch easier.

just wax the chrome like you would the rest of the paint in that area. It will make washing a breeze, and will keep it from getting water spots. I don't use anything aggressive on the chrome, just the final hard shell coat that I would put on the paint. and you get that water and bug beading surface.

Ive got a white xe and the love bugs really love the front of my truck. After my first love bug attack i was wishing i'd bought a se. love bugs don't come off too easy. In fact i blew some paint off my front bumper with a high pressure washer trying to get rid of the bugs.

RJ - how difficult is the 3M product to install? Is it "forgiving?" Does it use heat to apply and adhere? Appreciate any info. I had this put on my QX-4 and it was nice.

The key I have found to removing bugs is to:

1. Soak the front surfaces several times with your favorite car wash soap, and wash other panels between soakings. After 3-4 separate soakings (approximately 10-15 minutes total), then begin to rub. This works exteremely well at softening the dirt/bugs for easy removal.

2. Wash out of the sun, and only in cool temps. Sunrise or sunset times are perfect. If it's too warm, the car wash soap simply evaporates, and the soaking does not loosen the bugs. Heck, I usually have some of the easiest washing during a rain!

I have never needed any bug and tar remover, and my front is SPOTLESS.

The install is easy, just time consuming. Heat is helpful, but not required when stretching the material over compound curves. Here's a previous post about the product with a link to a write-up I did on another site.
