Tundra over to titan

Hi guy's nice site!!! Well tomarrow I'm trading in my 04 tundra double cab for a SE4x4x titan. Love the tundra but we just bought a 28 foot travel trailer that weights just over 7,000 pounds thought it would be alittle to much weight for the tundra. Well, what am I in for with the titan?

I just bought a new 34 foot TT just over 8000 pounds. Titan pulls with ease. I needed to adjust my weight dist hitch to stop some sway. Get a good WD hitch and you are good to go.

Good choice deciding on the Titan. I love the Toyota's (we also have a 4Runner) but the Titan will be a much better match for that new travel trailer. My trailer weighs a hefty 8000 lbs and the Titan pulls it around pretty well. Good luck and be sure to post pics of the new ride.

Well you're in for Brake Judder, Rear-end failure, tick and tack rattles everywhere, coolant leaks, bubbling bed-liner and of course horrible gas mileage with the Titan.

hehehe.. J/K. Switching over to the Titan should be a good upgrade. As with every vehicle there are bound to be problems. So, Good luck on the trade.. and Enjoy the Titan.

As a former Tundra owner, here's my take:

You'll love to drive the Titan, but you'll miss the refinement and quality of the Tundra. There really isn't anyone that can top Toyota quality, but you get a little snooze factor with that quality. The Tundra is more like a fine surgical instrument, and the Titan is more like a sawzall. Of course, before everyone flames the crap out of me, let me say that one of my favorite tools is my sawzall. It's big, loud, powerful, and will cut pretty much anything.

Jeeze, what ya guys going to live in it. Pretty much like pullin' a mobile home.

I just got done buying a new POP-UP. I wanted enough sitting and sleeping for 6 adults and had a hard time finding that in a Travel Trailer that was reasonably priced, reasonably new, and in reasonable shape. I wanted a 19' to a 24', but really did want to avoid the 24' size if I could. Looked at some 21' Hybrids that were 25' opened but they were in sad shape.

Finally got a PUP, 23' opened. I never could see pulling anything bigger than a 24' unless I planned on leaving it in a park, where it could fit.

Don't get me wrong, I think they're awesome but when you get that big, isn't it hard finding spots that they fit? If you you have the place to store them and the campgrounds to fit them, then they're awesome no doubt.

I'm thinking I'll need to get a WDH and sway bar for my 2019lb monster. It does state it has a estimated hitch weight of 391lbs but I believe that's a typo that made it through several brochures as that's 20% of the camper weight.

Titan should have no problem pullin any thing up to its 9400lb weight limit as long as you keep the GVWR in mind so that you can stop the truck when need be.

Enjoy those land boats.

Have a good one.

No flame from me - as the previous owner of a 2000 Tundra I would have to say I agree completely. (Except for the brakes - the brakes on Tundra were a little problematic.)
