Test drove the SRT-10

I test drove the crew cab model with the 4 speed auto. I knew more than the salesman.

My Dad: Is this a 5 speed?
Me: no it is a 4 speed.
Salesman: (looking at window sticker) ya it is a 4 speed, man kid you know alot about cars/
Me: I know I love cars.

I knew more than the salesman when my dad asked a questions. The salesman was cool thought whenever there was a question he could not answer he would wisper to me "Quick, what is the answer".

The sound system was one of the best I have herd in any car or truck.

The Truck was fast, but there was a hesatation when you flored it at about 30. The engine is loud! For some reason I like the Lighting better. That Whine of the supercharger in the Ford jut made me hold on for dear life. No hesatation in the Ford.

Sticker price $55,000!!!! AVG MPG....................................
5.5 MPG. I guess it is that low, because when people test drive it they speed. I only gets 9 MPG city and 11 Mpg HWY.

For some reason I think the Ford Lighting is faster. For .2 seconds slower 0-60 I would get the Ford, because even thought it is a tad slower it is $20,000 less at least. And that would be one with very little miles on it.

The only 300 dollar modification that you could buy that would make a Lightning spank an SRT-10 is wings. I can't stand the SRT-10 either, but its gonna take more than the latest model Lightning (in stock form) to beat one.

According to one course I read on the quad cab version, the head's 1/4 mile time is faster by .2 seconds. I know, not much. But for all the hype, quad cab, or not, it should be faster.

I can't speak for the regular cab. But something with 500 hp and advertised as a beast should haul arse-period.

If dodge really wanted to make a truck they would have supercharged a v8 like the hemi and left the v-10 in the viper. Its way overpriced, mods are limited unless you have very deep pockets, a supercharged v8 would be a much better over the v-10. the lightening is by far the better of the performance truck world and i hate ford...

Why would you need mods?

its just something you do to make what you got unique and different from others that you pass. the old saying "enough is never enough". there are several reasons why we need mods. they are fun to talk about, they are fun to put on, and most of all they are fun to use.

I think we're comparing apples to oranges here. Natually aspirated engines to force induction equipped engines. The lightning may be fast and have more potential, but it wouldn't have a chance against a factory supercharged SRT-10. On the other hand, I know something that I'd like to see from Nissan....a twin turbo VK56DE! That would lay the smack down on your Lightning's and SRT-10's.

Srt 10

So nice of Dodge to see the error of their ways after building the regular cab 6 spd that couldnt haul or tow anything (just a Viper with a truck body). Also they could not sell the darn thing, so hey why not put 2 extra doors on it and an automatic trans. Weeeeeee. Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm. But too little to late. And what is with the retarded sticker price? Daimler get a grip on your customer base. Not everyone has Mercedes SL 55 money for a truck. And if everyone did they would not spend it on a DODGE! They would actually buy a TITAN

The heck with those. I want a Titan with a factory sport suspension

(read that - lower/not lowered) with big sway bars and bilstein shocks. A bullet proof rear end and trans, and a factory NISMO supercharged fire breathing engine with all of the right goodies from the factory (volant/dual exhaust). Oh yea, I want it to ride on 20's with some factory 1 off wheels just for it. And then put some speed rated tires on it. I'll take mine in alert red please.

PS - I forgot the really cool looking hood with some type of scoop.

I think arguing about a .2 second differene is silly.... there is likely at least that much difference in either truck depending on how many bags of groceries are in the back... or how many cheesburgers the driver ate last week... the point is the trucks are fast... When I pull up next to a new F150 or Dodge in my Titan I usally just let the jackass beat me.... at that point it's just a race of stupidity as to who wants to do more damage to their truck and/or get a ticket.... The folks at Motor Trend already told me my Titan is faster than most trucks out there... I am not losing any sleep just because someone makes a truck that is a microgligosecond faster than mine.

i love the fact that my titan is fast, can tow, seat more than 2, barrel over speedbumps and careen through the offroad like a crazed ape... now, if i owned a srt10 or a lightning don't think i'd be doing any of those things other than getting speeding tickets... what a waste of money on a USELESS truck...
