I think I have decided on a tonneau, Retrax people I need input...

I have searched the forum long and hard and think I have decided on the retrax system. How much of the bed do you actually lose with it installed, I have SE CC? Also, I do not have the Utili-Track system but I do have a bed extender, will I still be able to use that? I haven't seen too many posts about people that have a bed extender without a UT system.

I am scared about the drilling of holes in the bed for drainage, please tell me it's no big deal!! Thanks!

1. You'll lose about 1 foot of bed space in the front at the top. You can still slide stuff under it - I would guess there is about 8" or so of space between the bottom of the canister and the bed.

2. You can still use the bed extender. The cover comes with a different bolt thing that they tell you to put on if you have a bed extender.

3. As for drilling - no biggie. It will help if you have a unibit, a standard bit will likely grab and could nick the back wall of the truck.

I called Retrax directly and spoke with one of the design tech's there before I bought mine. They were very helpful, so you might want to give them a call for specifics.

Best mod on my truck as of this writing. Love the ease of installation, ease of use, and the look. I had a vinyl roll-up pain in the A,,,,,,,cover,,,this is light years ahead of any roll up piece of vinyl. This is a quality piece of equipment. The holes you drill are on a vertical piece of the truck. Wouold not even be noticed if you did not know they were there.
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!!

Just remember that before you drill, place a sheet of wood in between the bed and cab

in case you put too much pressure on the drill.

Is anyone having issues with the shiny Lexan getting scratched up, or with rattling?

Retrax seems like the best, but the Lexan always made me hesitant to get one.

I put a good scratch on the side rail (not the lexan part) while I was unloading some stuff. It seems like that part is easier to ding up than the cover portion. Also had part of tree branch fall on it - no scratches.

The only time I hear the cover rattle is when I'm going over 45-50mph and the rear window is down. Otherwise, you don't hear anything.

Re the Retrax

I've had the Retrax since December. I spent from August to December considering the alternatives. I chose the Retrax and I'm so glad I did. It looks good, but just as important, it functions so well. It's easy to slide, it latches anywhere!--which is really great when you have a load that sticks up above tailgate level, just put it in the back and draw the Retrax snug up to it. The cover's really rugged... the brochure shows a teenager lounging across it, claiming that it holds up to 200 pounds on top of the cover. Haven't tried that though.

One caveat: they say that it clears the stake pockets. My did not quite do that and I'd need to trim an 1/8" or so off the outside edge of the rail to clear the stake pocket if I decide to use it.

I think you'll agree with the rest of us who have them--they're a great addition to your Titan.
