Okay first thing to do is to spray some starting fluid into the intake, if it starts then you have a fuel related problem, if not its electrical. post back the results, oh be sure that you have a full 12+ volts from the battery, low voltage can also cause this same issue.

I got it to crank! Is anyone having a problem with the Park,Neutral safety switch on their truck? This can be a real pain in the rear! If anyone else has had this problem how did you deal with it?

Any possible way that you hit something hard and it triggered the inirtia switch? ei, killing the fuel pump. Not to state the obvious, but it DOES have fuel in the tank?

I finally had to run the gear shifter through its travel a couple of times then it fired up. And yes it will turn over and sounds like it is getting plenty of juice just wouldn't fire. This thing is a 2005 with 1390 miles on it and it should not be having any major problems like not cranking yet! Just my opinion but I did not spend $31K for a truck that will not crank if it gets mad!

???? If it won't crank means it won't turn over.[Same thing] Getting gas wouldn't have anything to do with it. On the other hand if it's turning over and not starting it might be a gas issue.
If it wont "crank" "turn over" it could be that the gear shift is not all the way in park. In which case you could also try putting it in neutral.

Yeah it has gas and it has not been offroad yet. Do these things get picky if the tank is around the 1/4 mark?

The starter was just spinning and I tried it in both park and neutral. I wound up getting pissed and slamming it in park and it fired. I mean this is the first time I have experienced this and I did nothing unusual this morning that I don't normally do.

Thanks for the quick responses. It seems to be acting fine right now but the dealer is getting a call first thing in the morning!

Haven't seen anything on the console shift. There is a TSB on the column shifter.

It's hard to diagnose without actually being there. It could be an electrical component that has gone bad prematurely. But usually if that happens it won't start at all.
Hopefully it threw a code and the dealership will be able to see it.

let me throw out another 'duh', if it is turning over and not starting (like it has no gas) try unlocking the gas cap as possibly you have a vacuum thats been created not allowing the gas to be siphoned.

obviously this would not matter if the truck won't turn over at all. sounds like the truck thinks its in gear and won't turn over so it might be a shifter issue. good luck.
