Those three vehicles seem to have very different characteristics!
A pilot is a great family machine, ours has 30K on it and no problems to date. They are rather reasonable on initial purchase price, maintenance and fuel costs. We have had the 03 EX-L since it came out, wife was tired of the minivan, and I wanted to get the side impact air bags and AWD. The pilot delivers 22 MPG mixed and as high as 24 highway cruising at 70 mph. Size is similar-ish to sequoia but does not feel as large and don't get the tippy feeling of the landi, etc.
For smaller capacity the CRV or Element are very reasonable as well, both with AWD.. price out at 20K ish. In this category we have an E it has the clam shell door for ease of loading and is great for kids and pets, wipe clean floor, lots of room etc. The E replaced an early edition Xterra. (The tranny went out on the X was replaced under warranty but with a rebuilt unit! by Nissan) The vehicle was in service for about 4 weeks, and a rental car was provided for the first 2 weeks only! It left the stable very quickly after that.
Must say that both the Pilot and E though bought during the early introduction cycle of the first year have been very good with no down time what so ever for recall service.
On paper the Hyundai suv give the crv and element a good run for the money (it has awd plus veh stability..). I feel that it is an important safety feature.
