paint be gone

This weekend we had a long 4 hour drive home that resulted in a lot of bugs. I went to the local hand wash deal around the corner to get most of the hard stuff off before going home to hand wash. Short of getting the under carriage washed or bugs, I don't use these places to wash my toys. Everything is hand done in my driveway.
Was washing the bugs off the hood, grill, windshield, and then the bumper ends when it happened.....the paint came off!!!
How is this at all possible? Just a few days ago I had last done the hand wash and did not find one single chip anywhere on this rig, either the bumper covers or the hood.
Now we aren't talking a small amount of paint but something on the order of about a silver dollar in size.
What can be done? I have not had something like this happen on any machine that I have owned. This isn't a warranty thing is it? I doubt it but would like to know prior to asking the dealer about this paint.
Thx.

Tweety,

I say yes it is a warranty issue! The truck is less than two years old. I had a pathfinder that a shopping cart hit and caused the paint on the fender flare to flake off. The dealer ordered a new flare, had it painted and warrantied the whole repair. I would definately think of it as warranty and make them fix it.

Just my .02 Good luck!

It's a warrantable repair, depending on your miles.

I have the same thing happening to my '04 CC 4x4 SE. On both sides, the bumper ends have large (at least large to me) areas where the paint is peeling off. I spoke to one dealer where I go for service (closer to my house) and they simpy wouldn't even discuss it being a warranty fix. I am going to be heading back to the dealer where I bought the truck and raise a little hell.

No pics yet. It would be faster to drive down Barker Cypress to show you!
Our toy has just over 6K miles on it.
