SLP Dash Light?!?!?

I've only had my 05 Titan SE KC 4x4 is only 1.5 weeks, so excuse the dumb question but I noticed that when I am in 4x2 mode and when my tires spin (i.e. in rain or sand) a yellow SLP light lights up on the dash - is that there just to tell me my tires are spining or is there some "black box" stuff going on there? Seems silly to have a light tell me the tires are spining.....

The only options on my truck is the SE Popular with Bench and the Utility Track Pacakge. It does NOT have VDC or the Airbag package or the limited slip rear that comes with the off road package.

Thanks,

George

It sounds like you have VDC and it is telling you that the computer is recognizing that your truck is slipping and it is correcting the problem.

Sorry. Bad habit. Next time I'll read the entire thing.

You have limited slip whether you realize it or not. You don't have to have the off road package to have limited slip.In fact you don't have a choice. When your tires are spinning (front or rear) and the slip light comes on it is telling you that the ABLS (limited slip) is engaged.
I suggest that you read the manual, it should clear things up for you.

You have the 4X4 so what you're seeing is the ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip) at work...all 4X4s have it...front (when in 4WD) AND rear. When the one rear wheel was slipping, the SLP light was telling you, as you put it, a little black box, is braking the slipping wheel and sending more power to the one with the most grip.
