The only options on my truck is the SE Popular with Bench and the Utility Track Pacakge. It does NOT have VDC or the Airbag package or the limited slip rear that comes with the off road package.

You have the 4X4 so what you're seeing is the ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip) at work...all 4X4s have it...front (when in 4WD) AND rear. When the one rear wheel was slipping, the SLP light was telling you, as you put it, a little black box, is braking the slipping wheel and sending more power to the one with the most grip.
