First Road Trip

I just returned from Michigan with my Titan. I didn't see any other Titan's the entire time that I was in Saginaw. It was kind of cool as I got a few dirty looks but also some smiles and nods. I was very impressed with the comfort and performance over an 1800 mile round trip. Now I need to try and wash about 1 million bugs off of the front end. Any ideas for a safe bug remover?

Next time, let us know you are on your way and A2Titan and myself will try to meet you for lunch. Nothing like pit stop to see fellow owners.

My first road trip was 800 miles.... drove to Kansas City just to buy my truck.. 800 miles home.. I was just elated... nothing but pure love. Two days later, put on another 400 by heading up north. Got home with a smile on my face. I love driving it.

Congrats on your road trip being a comfortable success.

As for bugs.. I use Eagle One Car wash... Soak the front end, wash the top of the truck and windows.. soak the front end, wash the hood and front fenders, soak the front, wash the doors and bed sides... soak the front end, wash the tailend.. finally, wash the front end. The duration of keeping the bugs wet aids in them comming appart much easier. When I soak the front end, I use a wash mit full of soapy water and wipe across the bugs to aid in breaking them up.. I don't scrub until the very last.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip on the wash I will try it tonight.

My father passed away so I will be making a few more trips to settle his estate. I will be hauling back a car on one trip so I will be able to really test the Titan out. Meeting fellow Titan owners would be great on one of the trips. It sure would be nice to have something to look forward to on an otherwise sad trip.

The Titan front end is a bug magnet, thanks for the bug removal advise. My 1200 mile trip really collected a lot of bugs. A lot of "elbow grease" to remove, but it looks like new again. My Titan looked and did GREAT pulling my trailer and it got a lot of looks even with all the bug juice. Looking forward to going out again soon.

Ah, forgot to mention that soap is what removes wax. That being said, I keep plenty of wax on the fronts of my vehicles. It keeps the bugs from sticking quite so well.

Knowing that the repetitive soaping and wiping is hard on the wax, I typically wax the bug infested areas about 3 times as often as I wax the rest of the truck. Since it's clean anyway, it takes no time at all to do the front end and the backs of the mirrors.

Edit.. next time you are planning on comming through the area, let us know. If I am able, I'd like to meet another forum member.

And sorry to hear the bad news.
