Silver Star bulbs

Okay, how do you guys like them now that you've had them for a while? Do they dim over time, like some people have told me?

I was checkin' them out at the Wal-Mart and they want ~$40 for 'em! Let me know!

I put them in my truck. I like them. I drive a car with Xenon bulbs, and when I got the truck, I hated the yellow lights. When I switched to the Silver Stars, I don't notice a difference in light output any more between the truck and my car. Plus, I can see more clearly in the truck now. Had them for 15000 miles and no problems.

I had silverstars in my previous car, and I never noticed that they dimmed at all over the 18 months or so I had them in before I traded it on the Titan.

My twofold reasons for not swapping are the fact that I'll need 4 (maybe 6 if I do the fog lamps) bulbs -at $25 each that's a little steep. The other reason is that I'm debating on just putting HIDs on. I think I'd like to see a little more long term information from those that have done the swap before I go down that road though.

You think the Silver Stars cost too much, but you're looking at doing the HID conversion? I'd love to do that b/c no one has it, but the wifey says no...

I have no problem with the Silver Stars I put in. Whenever I get around to it, I'd like to find out about putting Silver Stars into the fog lights

I paid about $30 per pair for both the highs and lows at Walmart and I notice the improved night visibility.

More like I don't want to spend the money on the silverstars, then do an HID conversion a few months later. It's not like I could resell the silver star bulbs.

Any store will have a little POS computer that you push a bunch of buttons and it'll tell you which bulbs to buy for each different light on your vehicle.

The Silverstar fog replacement bulbs are 893ST. They are 37.5 watt. I put them in my truck last summer, but one burned out mid-winter. Since they're about $20 apiece and rather hard to find, I put both OEMs back in. Haven't switched back yet.
There are other threads here that report short bulb life for silverstars. Search on "silverstar" for the whole story.
