Tire options

I got my truck in apr 2004 with the 18" wheels on it. I farm for a living and if I had known how sorry these tires were off road I would have gotten the 2wd off road package, but my dealer never told me of this option. I am now stuck with the 18s. What option of tires are there for this rim? I have already ruined one and need a tire to be my spare since I put the spare on to have all 4 match up. I prefer Michelin. Has anyone out there replaced theirs? I would love to get my hands on some 17" wheels for cheap but that is another story.

Tire trouble also...

I feel your paim Goosmst, was wondering if anyone could recommend a company that makes a quality tire in an 18" that is at least 6ply, if not 8 ply. In the last month and a half, I have had to replace two tires, both sidewall gashes, one inside, one outside. One on inside happened on highway, one outside happened as I was driving down the middle of a gravel road. Third was patchable, but was a cut in the tread. Ever try to find even a 4ply tire in an 18" in a small town on a holiday weekend? Does NOT happen; and I had a local tire person searching for me! Please, only reply personally if you truly KNOW of some company that makes something worthwhile for this rig. Like the truck, but tired of $150 for a tire every other week. Wonder if that's included in the "36,000 mile, bumper to bumper warranty", which is a joke also...

I wonder if the 18" tire that comes on the F150 lariat would work. It is a 275/65/18 and a number of companys make one for it. I have done alot of searching in the last 30 minutes and have found some. The damn Michelin from Wal mart runs 209$!!!! It is an LTX Pilot, any good? Come on guys any knowledge on this subject. By the way mudchick the thing that tore my tire up was a rock for cying out loud! How sorry is a tire that a rounded off thin rock can puncture the tire!

these are not the most aggressive-looking tire made, but they are definitely the toughest, longast lasting radial tire.
they do well on the street and will last forever and, of course, grip extremely well in mud, snow, and sand. And they are available in 285/65/18. That size is available at www.4wheelparts.com

Michelin

I'm having Michelin 265/70/18 (our OEM size) Cross Terrain installed later today. I'll let you know how it goes. Don't ask how much!!

I like the look of the Cooper tires, but I'm not sure how much they run.
