I thought she would go with another Maxima to replace the 2000 Maxima we have enjoyed, but I think she's gonna go with the 2005 Pontiac GTO/Auto. Now I may end up fighting with her over wanting to drive her car
We have had several 600+ rwhp cars in the past and they were too much fun. I'm already scoping out 100+ hp worth of mods for a new car we don't even have yet!
Perhaps now I can get away with more mods to the new Titan too.
I'd also prefer the C6, but she absolutely will not take any car with only two seats
She has been after me for a long time to build another ridiculously overpowered car and I haven't had the time or the $$$ to do it......but this would be a step in the right direction and I get to have some fun too.
Man 600 rwhp is like a top drag car. maaybe 600 engine hp. I wish i could ride in a 600rwhp car. What were your previous cars?? Did u have a hard time finding aviation fuel?

Three of the previous cars worthy of mention would be:
***2000 Z28/A4 with a 7 liter buildup of the LS1 (based on the iron block from a truck) including a blower. Without the nitrous it was pushing around 525 to the rear wheels (through a custom built 9-inch Ford rear) and 625 with the juice. Only blew up the transmission 3 times in that one :-) It was good for high 10's on Nitto drag radials and low 10's with slicks. With a good launch I would get sub 1.5 60' times from this car.
***1987 Buick Regal Turbo (not the GNX) with waaaayyy too much money spent on parts that was pushing 800+ to the wheels. Handling and brakes on this sucked. This was a solid 9 second car on slicks (as long as I kept the boost dialed down to the minimal tiresmoke range)
***1973 Dodge Dart which I had crammed a tunnel-rammed 440 with nitrous into (not aneasy fit!). That car ran high 8's 1/4 mile times. This was a barely street legal drag car.
You will love the Goat. Nothing like being thrown back in the seat with every gear change and the build quality is amazing, you would never guess it is a GM. The back seats are comfy once you get back there but getting into the back seat is a bit of a trick. Entry and exit of the front seats is much better than the Vette though, that and the build quality is what made me go for the GTO over the C6. Does your wife have a sister?
I was 95% sure we'd end up with a new GTO for my wife.....but three things killed that idea for her: (1) she decided the interior space was not sufficient, (2) the tiny trunk space, and (3) the Pontiac dealers around here would not permit a test drive......
.....so it was back to the Nissan dealership for another look at the new Maxima. Quite frankly, neither she or I was impressed with the styling of the Maxima and she absolutely didn't like the handling compared to the 2000 Maxima SE we had. She then drove several other vehicles on the lot. Pathfinder, because of the attraction to seating space.....but it of course handled poorly and lacked acceleration. 350Z, which she loved, but couldn't get past the 2 seat limitation. Xterra, same problems as the Pathfinder. We had not considered the Altima mainly because I was not familiar with the new 2002+ redesign and already knew that I didn't like the pre-2002 design. Finally, after listening to her endless comments about poor handling and acceleration, the salesman proclaimed he had the exact car she wanted. Much to my surprise we would soon be test driving a silver 2005 Altima SE-R. A short time after that we had signed all the paper-work and now the new car sits out in the driveway. Although it certainly was pricey for an Altima, it is a very fun car to drive and has considerably more interior room than the Maxima we traded out of.

Don't get me wrong, but didn't car and driver give the GTO not so good marks on the build quality? The one I read about the GTO said they liked everything but had some complaints about the build quality, fit and finish, and styling. They said it was because the cars are built in Australia and aren't up to American stds yet. I've been watching the "GTO" for a few years now in the V8 series racing in Australia along with the Ford Falcon. I really like series. The cars are so sweet! Why don't they bring some of them to the US, I always thought.....Now we have the GTO. A very sweet car!! Does anyone every watch the D1 events with that GTO. That thing in mean. Sorry for the long post about nothing.
yup.... I have seen reports about build quality complaints on the GTO too..... and was willing to overlook just about anything to hear the sweet song of the LS2 engine. In the end, it just wasn't meant to happen and now we continue to be a pure Nissan family.

I was going to tell you to look at the Infiniti G35 Coupe 2+2.....to late!
Maybe look at an aftermarket car. I don't know what they're called, but Saleen, Rouch, or I've seen a couple things on Tim Allen building limited addition Impalas (the mid 90's ones) and Devilles with MORE POWER...
I'm not a real big GM fan, but in the hands of some of these guys...
