Can it get any worse for them? I am almost starting to feel sorry for them. I'll have to tell my neighbor to park his Furd outside and away from the house from now on.....

It's a shame for those folks but you have to wonder what the he77 the engineers were thinking when they left the switch hot 100% of the time
They were thinking:
- "Were saving so much money with this cheap, simple design."
- "Shoot, I've got vacation coming up, but I'm not sure if this design is all that good. I really dont want to redesign this part though. Meh, it works good enough for now. If there's a problem, it'll show up later."
- "If our vehicles catch on fire, does that mean we need a heater in the car?"
- "Who cares if it breaks. One little faulty switch shouldn't be that big of a deal."

Thats why I will never buy a FORD. Just got my Titan and love it.
I believe it's already been discussed that brake judder is NOT A DEADLY ISSUE.
inconvenient - yes
annoying - yes
excess wear on your tires - yes
deadly - NO
Ford has similar brake issues with their trucks.
Fact is, this cruise switch as been proven to result in a number of fires and subsequent property damage. As these vehicles get older, that number will increase, as will the lawsuits against Ford.

Well, nothing is deadly until it kills someone.
Who would think a cruise control switch would burn down a house and kill a 74 year old woman? It's nearly unbelievable, but it happened so that is now a deadly issue. I find it VERY likely that warping rotor issues is going to catch up with at least one truck manufacturer. Chevy, Nissan, Ford and Toyota have all suffered this malady on their trucks. I'm amazed no fatal accidents have been blamed on it yet.
Ford has been putting out unsafe vehicles for decades. From the exploding fuel tank in the Pinto to the "flipping" Explorers. Ford has had a reputation in putting human safety below profit$$. Have you checked out the safety offset crash test rating on there previous F-150?
Granted the new body/frame on the F-150 is much better and considered a "best pick" ...however I believe that was mandatory for them to stay competitive in a more consumer savvy market.
Outside of the Titan kicking-*** with horse power….that was one of the reason I bought it...There's just something about having the assurance that your truck won’t spontaneously combust on you that’s appealing. I’ll take brake Judder over that any day.

But it cause the weight to increase 500 lbs, effectively lowering the overall performance of the truck.
Nissan didn't have to do that, and they still have a 5-star from crash test rating
Makes you wonder how good Fords design really is. I mean, it gets the job done safely, but not that well IMO.

It's been rumored that Ford was froced by the US government to redisign the truck from a safety standpoint. Some even believe Ford received grants from the US for the redesign.

I totally agree. I test drove the Ford and like all the reviews said, it was sluggish. An Inefficiency indeed. I don’t see how people swear by them.......they put tradition before good research and testing/performance. Aggie whats your story? How long have you owend your titan and how do you like it? Just picked mine up and new to this site. I liked your idea of the practical intake mod.
Old news, but that is the one of the finals straws for not buying another Ford. My 1991 F150 caught on fire on the way to work one day. My 2000 was one of the most unsafe trucks made, and it was a fire hazard too.

I agree, old news. But respectfully disagree with the rest of the post. Ford does appear to be handling the problem responsibly. I love my Armada, but have owned Fords for years. I have found all of them to be reliable, dependable, low maintenance vehicles. In addition to the Armada, I have:
F-9000 Turbo Cat Rollback body - lost count of the miles, maybe a million???
Both still in use every day.
Sold my '97 Expedition 5.4L 4x4 to buy this Armada. 107,000 miles - no problems. It did have the Firestone tire recall. Incidentally it did not have Firestone tires on it originally! Came with Goodyears. When they wore out, I put Firestone Wilderness tires on (my bad) and when it was in for routine service, Ford techs saw them and replaced them free of charge anyway because of the bad publicity. I told them they did not come on the truck. They wanted them off anyway.
'03 Volvo S-80 (wife's current car). Why list it? It is owned by Ford. Has never been back to the dealer (or any other shop) for anything. Nor had the '93 Volvo my wife drove for 10 years (never back to the dealer or any other shop for anything other than the scheduled service to replace timing belt, etc), which it replaced - both with great straight 6 engines.
I won't go into the other Fords I've owned and sold over the years, but none of them had quality issues.
I own this Armada because it is better for my needs than the current Ford offerings. I can't say it is a better truck from a quality stand point (although it has also been trouble free and never in for service by anyone), it is just better for my needs.
