Rusty Exhaust

I Just got a brand new exhaust put in and when I picked my truck up they had asked if I wanted them to spray it so it wont rust. Is this for real or are they trying to get a couple of extra bucks out of me. If it is real how much should it cost and should I get it done? I live in New York and they salt the roads in winter if that means anything. I never had a problem with stock exhausts rusting either. Thanks guys

Never heard of anyone spraying your exhaust to prevent rust. What kind of exhaust did you get?

Rusty Exhaust

Last I knew the exhaust on the Titans was stainless steel and wasn't supposed to rust

Its not stainless steel. Its aluminum and its going to rust within 50k miles.

With the amount of abusive i put on this truck, i'm suprised i still have a muffler.

Shocks are almost gone too. I think i have about 5k left in them.

But there is a spray out there to prevent road salts from damaging your truck. For regions using a lot of salt for snow remova of coursel.

You can count on those pipes rusting. Midas likely used ordinary steel which will rust fairly quickly. Aluminized steel would resist rusting a bit longer but will stil not prevent rusting entirely. I would guess that your area in New York used road salt to mely snow and ice in the winter. Even stainless steel will not hold up that long in those conditions. I have heard that if you rinse the undercarriage regulary during the winter to wash off the salt you can hold off the rust a bit.
