Racing today
I guy at work is going to race me today, he's got a Subaru Baja Turbo and he claims it came from factory with a 235HP WRX engine. I googled for it and found nothing. You think this is true or is he smoking something. Also what's best to run with the VDC on or off?

Don't know about the Subaru but run with VDC off.

VDC off of course but just be careful of wheel spin.
tells us who wins.

i don't know which sub. it was, but isn't there one that comes out of the factory with over 300 ponies?

It will be close...
If it were a Forrester XT, I'd say you wouldn't have much of a chance. They are rated at 210hp, but they have more like 250hp, and have run high 13's stock. The Baja uses the same engine, but is heavier. I believe they are auto only, at least when they first came out. The auto Baja is quite a bit slower then the manual Forrester XT, it should be close to the Titan. Then of course, it easy to get a lot of extra HP out of those engines if it's not stock.

IMHO, you are gonna get smoked and bad if it really has the WRX engine. If he has that engine and with his weight advantage, he'll run in the 13's probably, and you'll run low 15's. Think in terms of about 15 car lengths in the quarter!
If he's lying about the engine, that's another matter. A regular '04 Subaru Baja Turbo should run about 7.5 to 60 and about 15.5 in the quarter. Should be a very even race on those terms: http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm
