Trip to River during break-in

Hey all

I have about 200 miles on my truck now. I read the manual and did some searching here about the 1200 mile break-in period and not keeping constant speeds for long periods of time.

Well, I am going to the river (Colorado River for those outside of California) which will be about a 550 mile roundtrip. I figure I'll have about 500-600 miles on her before I head out on the trip next week. Should I be concerned about making the trip? I am sure it will be hot once in the desert 100+ degrees while driving and some long hills etc..

If I vary the RPMs every 20 minutes or so (by shifting to 4th, changing speeds on the cruise control, etc..) should it be OK? I am contemplating renting a car for the trip as it is not worth screwing up the engine for later just to take my new baby out on her first river trip so soon.

Thanks for any tips/input/advice you guys have on the matter.

Just vary speeds/gears every 15 mins. or so and you'll be fine.
