Me and the wife were out tonight and I was curious to see what Carmax would appraise my Titan for. My 05 SE KC 4x4 is nicely equipped w/everything except for Off road pkg and RF pkg. The only thing I've had installed after the fact is running boards, fog lamps, and a bug shield. It stickered out to about $32,000 new about 6 months ago.
I know the all vehicles take a hit the first few years but $10,000. That is just plain nuts. I couldn't get a figure on line w/kelley blue book and NADA. Edmunds was just too damn low. The 05 Titan's just aren't listed in there, or I'm just doing something wrong.
I've went to Carmax before to appraise accouple of other cars in the past. They've been very fair. This time I was very disappointed to say the least. I know that our Titans' are all worth alot more than these ****heads are leading on. I don't know. What do you guys think?

Thanks for all of your time and knowledge Titan talk members. I'll still be around.
I got $24,000 for my 04 XE CC 4x4 when I traded it in November 04, with 22,000 miles on it - but it was still a new model then and there was little, or no, information on trade in values - another dealership had offered my $20,000.
I'm guessing that if it "stickered out" at $32,000 - than someone could buy it new for $28,000-$30,000 - and $22,000 on "trade in" value probably would not be far off.

I bought just about the same truck in March and paid $24,500. That's why it appraises at $22,000. If they all sold at $32,000 new, then they would get more in the used market right now.

Thanks for the responses guys. It still is very disappointing. I would think that my Titan would be at least in trade around $24,000, maybe $25,000, but that would be pushing it probably. Ole well. What do the rest of you think? Thanks
Travis

The days of ever getting anything worthwhile for a trade are long gone. Dealers are killing residual values with deep dscounts and employee gimicks. These discounts mandate the wholesale market and drive down the price dealers are willing to pay for trade. I got my 05 SE for $23,900. So that person who paid the sticker price on the same truck for $29,000 is automatically upside down. It's the nature of the market. Just my .02
3 weeks ago I bought my titan, 04 Silver LE KC with 10,000mi. Paid 23,500 at nissan dealership.
The lesson to be learned kids is never buy a brand new vehicle (unless its a honda). Most loose 1/4 of the value when you drive it off the lot. Just be glad you didn't buy a dodge, there resales are even worse.

That's the truth. There are some posts over at DTW that bear this out.
It's definitely better to be in a vehicle for the long haul. I've been tempted to trade mine in on one occassion but it is so versatile I'll be keeping my titan for a while, long after it is no longer one of the faster ones out there.

If we can buy a brand new one for that much... why would they give that that much on a used vehicle for trade?
According to a couple of dealers at the dealership I went to, they claim the Titan is the most sought after truck used. If that is the case than selling it outright would bring you what your looking for hopefully.

If you want another machine to buy that WILL hold its value, go get a Jeep Wrangler 4x4.
We sold ours to Carmax when we got the Titan. It was waaay over in mileage, was lifted, and had body scratches all over from being offroad alot. The rig was less than 3 years old and they gave us more than we owed. Wasn't much but still.
When we bought the machine the guy told us that 4x4's hold their value best. Something like 45% versus the 30% or less for normal machines. Thought he was pulling my pud but turns out he was right.
Go figure.
IF...you sold/traded you titan at carmax, next week, you'd see it 28k... they are in business to make money of coarse!
also, chances are they'd have it sold pretty quickly...i have only seen a few used titans are car dealerships.

I'm curious as to why you even care? Did you buy the Titan in hopes of selling it to Carmax for more money?
Just drive the thing. Seems like people here are more concerned with crying about meaningless stuff than driving their trucks!!

I was just curious and stopped by Carmax to see what it would appraise for that's all. No, I did not buy the Titan to sell it to Carmax. My thought was a interesting topic of conversation on Titantalk. I'm sorry if you don't like it, don't post here if you don't have anything interesting or positive to post. OK buddy, thanks. To all the others that posted thank you. I just think this is a interesting topic, that's all.
