Will Y pipe replacement void warranty?

Went to local muffler shop and the guy said that anything cut in front of the muffler would void the warranty. True / False? Thought about replacing the Y and muffler. Thanks

It will void the warranty relating to the muffler and shouldn't affect nothing else. They can't say your brake went bad cause of the modify pipe.

This will not affect overall warranty status. It will only void your muffler system.

It only voids warranty on items you replace/modify. And if a claim is made that your modified system was the cause of the problem then they have the burden of proof to prove that it was the sole cause of the incident and nothing else.

Example, I replace brakes with aftermarket products and my engine goes out. No reason for warranty to be denied.

I talked with the service department here in my town and they said the same thing. Only voids it on items you replaced. I put a cat back monster exhaust on so anything after the cats is my responsibility (which is not much).
