The Titan attracts everything...even bugs...

what gives...

my Titan has been attracting bugs like crazy, they seem to love it...

constantly getting spider webs in the rear bumper area...

and you should see how many dead flying insects on the front end all the time...

I once drove through a migration of hungry moths once and the freeway was going at speeds of 20mph because everyone's windows were splattered with these bugs.

It was seriously "WTF?!?" You didn't know what the hell happened to reality when you saw it.

What are you guys using to get squished bugs off the front bumper/grille?
I have tried a bug remover spray from Kragen (black bottle, green bubble letters) but it is not very effective.
I don't want to use an abrisive nylon dish scrubber because it will scratch the paint.
Is there a paint safe chemical that gets the bugs off well?

No chemicals that I've tried seem to work too well for the bugs. I just wet the truck down and use a brush with soap, that is not too course of course.

I use that Mr. Clean car wash thing. The soap actually seems to get them off pretty easy. I just spray on the soap and water mixture and use the mit provided and it works fine.

Tell me about it. This thing gets more bugs splattered on it than anything I have ever owner in my life. I keep expecting to get a note from the Society for Prevention of Crualty to BUGS.

Bug and Road Film Removal

Years ago, I became of a method used by show car detailers to remove bugs from the front of a vehicle, as well as that oily road film that builds up on windshields over time. Go to your local grocery store and buy yourself a can of Bon ami cleanser. Wet down the front of your vehicle and let the water soak in for awhile. Apply the Bon ami with a dampened cloth or sponge, using gentle strokes in a circular motion. IT WILL REMOVE ALL THE BUGS AND ROAD FILM....GUARANTEED!

The downside....it will remove the wax from painted areas, so you will have to re-apply your favorite "shiny stuff" when finished....but it WILL NOT scratch the paint.

Warning: Do not try this with other powdered cleaners. They are too coarse and will scratch the paint. Bon ami will not. I've been using this method for several years and can speak to its effectiveness.

I'm in Florida. We have a bug here in Florida called the love bug. It comes out in swarms for a month twice a year. It is so bad that all the rest stops have automatic hose driven windshield washers for free set up to wash of bugs. It isn't indigenous but was introduced to the environment to eat misquitos by a Florida University. Instead of eating misquitos, it became its own problem. They are fat bugs with lots of white juice. The juice/guts is very acidic and will eat up paint rapidly.

First make sure you have a good coat of wax on the truck at all times.
Second, a power washer after you get the bugs works very well. Solves 95% of my bug problems. Just don't let them sit and eat into the wax and paint. I'd power wash them off within a day or two of getting on the truck.
Third, Florida drivers spray pam on the front of their trucks during love bug season. Bugs slide off just like an omlet and it won't hurt the paint.

Hope this helps.

I may have noticed this phenomena also. I just drove my truck a thousand miles up to and around Canada. When that one on the left side of the grill by the headlight hit, it actually slowed the truck down by 5mph.

I've always had good luck with WD-40. Just spray it on, let it set a few minutes, and the bugs just wash right off.

That looks like about 1 hours worth of bugs from driving on the Florida turnpike in June or September.

OK, I had to weigh in on this one.

I've commented a number of times, there's something about the aerodynamics of this truck (I presume it has a lot to do with the side mirrors - in my case the towing mirrors). I find more bug splatters on the SIDE of this truck than any other vehicle I've ever owned. The side windows and the doors, just below the mirrors, are the most likely areas to find bug remains, but I've had to clean them off all the way down the sides, including the box and cap!

On a positive note, the OEM bug deflector has reduced windshield splatters by at least 95 - 98%!

Do not use WD-40 its a corrosive...........it will eat your wax off like nothing nice.

A trick I use is a Bounce dryer sheet, get it damp the just rub where the bugs are with it and they will come off super easy
