Maybe a New Titan

After reading the thread about the Side Airbags and the one about after market paint, I am looking into trading my 2005 Red Brawn SE CC w/ Utility bed and Captains Chairs for a 2005 Bizzard White SE CC w/ Utility bed, Popular package w/ bench, Big Tow and Side Airbags. Rob Doll Nissan said it would be best to do it soon as there is not a book value for the 05's yet. He said I will loose about $2,000 on the deal. The airbags is what pushed me over. I wanted a White Titan w/ Big Tow, but after reading the tread about the person who lost his wife in a roll over, I think that any amount of money is worth being able to say I took the available precautions. I'm going today to have them appraise my titan. They said they havn't been able to find a titan in "the south" with these options, so we are planning on ordering one. But he said I will still get a rebate?! I wonder how this is going to work out? What do you guys think about this???

P.S. I was thinking about getting financing from somewhere other than Nissan so that I could get a low rate and still get a rebate. Right now my rate in 6.7% on my titan.

I looked at kbb.com and they don't have an option for the 2005s.

I'm driving 30 miles to have them appraise my titan today at around 5pm. I know they are going to try to talk me into something. I need advice. and maybe some questions to ask.

The best advice I can give is to not accept the first offer they give you on your Titan. WHATEVER they offer, I can guarantee you that if you can hold off for a couple days they will call you back bumping the price up a couple thousand dollars. I know it's tough to do this when you're licking your chops, but trust me on this one...they will call you back if you just walk out but also sound like they are close.

I'm missing something here. Who lost their wife? Why do you think it's a good move to switch trucks? I don't fear rolling a vehicle and if that unfortunate event happens air bags aren't the "be all and end all" item. The $2000 he was speaking of will be more like 2-4 thousand (possibly more)when you get down to negotiate. Sitting in my truck we feel plenty safe.

I didn't say they are the "be all and end all", but it is worth it to me to take the extra precaution! And I feel very safe in my truck and I don't drive like a maniac, but you can't control others. And if someone, for whatever reason, causes you to wreck/roll, I would like to know I have that extra safety feature.

I was just on the Nissan website and it accured to me that I you can't have the airbags with the bench seats, right? Some of the airbags on in the captain's chairs.

My post was not meant to offend you. I hope it didn't. From my perspective this society has become so afraid of any possible bad thing to happen that we second guess everything. It's like insurance, you're betting something will happen and they're betting it won't.

No harm, no foul (sp?). I went to the dealer last night. They said it would be along the lines of $7,000 for the extra options and the depreciation. Thats a lot of money. My wife and I are doing the budget tonight to see what kind of extra money we have. This is something we have been putting off for a while. We'll see how it goes......

Used would probably be the best way to go because all of this is about the side air bags, everything else is just icing on the cake, right?

I'de say keep the truck ya got, spend the seven grand on a used Miata, drop the top and you and your wife go for a rejuvinating ride. Airbags are not all they are cracked up to be. Nothing, and I mean nothing can replace driver awareness when it comes to safety.

That's right. And don't think I haven't thought about using that money for a project car but safety first.
